Celebrating 15 Years SHARING COLORADO MUSIC

The Colorado Playlist is provided to member stations at no cost .  Your support is deeply appreciated and will help to keep the program on the air as it celebrates 15 years on the air.

The Colorado Playlist was created with ONE MISSION – to share the incredible music that emanates from the Centennial State; music from the 60s to TODAY; the biggest hits from the biggest hitmakers and award winners to some of the freshest NEW music emerging from around the state.

Today, the Colorado Playlist is the longest running, more widely heard music based Colorado-centric radio program in Colorado radio history.

The show is heard in all of Northern Colorado from Denver north to Wyoming, Pueblo, Alamosa, Aspen, Glenwood Springs, Grand Junction, Durango, Westcliffe, Telluride and many other cities and towns in Colorado.

Business contributions of $50 or more get mentions on the show.  If you operate a business that supports homegrown Colorado music and would like your business name spread around the state, please email me at coloradoplaylist@gmail.com.

When I say your donation matters, IT DOES!

CP S15 EP06 2021

FEB 08 2021 –We’re three months, 1/4 of a year, into the new release year that began in November and already I’m seeing a record number of new releases from here in Colorado.  It may be the result of COVID isolation, or simply that there are more ways to produce new records.

I can say I’m fitting new tracks into show outlines four weeks in advance from now.  This week I managed to get in new music from David William’s Trickster Carousel, Isadora Eden, Zembu, House Painter Music, and The Barlow.

The big news this past week is that venues will be able to open to 50% capacity, depending on social distancing criteria.

Westword outlined the specifics: “At indoor unseated events, venues can host up to 50 percent capacity — but no more than fifty or a hundred people, depending on the size of the space and using the state’s Social Distancing Space Calculator.

Indoor seated events can have up to a hundred people or 50 percent capacity — whichever is smaller. Outdoor events can have up to 175 people or 50 percent capacity — again, whichever is smaller. Venues operating as indoor restaurants can have 50 percent capacity or fifty people (or even up to 150, based on the state’s calculator).”

The verdict is still out on whether or not we’ll see any type of large outdoor gatherings this season.  Major events such as Bohemian Nights at New West Fest in Fort Collins, the Greeley Blues Jam and Greeley Stampede have yet to announce one way or another how they will proceed.

Even with more people being allowed into our smaller venues many of our local musicians are still struggling.  Our non-profit, Rocky Mountain Music Relief receives two or three requests a week for help.

VIDEO PICK OF THE WEEK – JAN 25 2021

When I posted yesterday (Jan 25) I didn’t include a Video Pick of the Week.  Truthfully, there hasn’t been much put out yet this year.  Today, however, I came across a video thanks to Westword that’s a message to Denver mayor Hancock about homelessness and the sweeps that have been taking place in Denver.

I cannot relate to what’s going on.  I can only watch – feeling somewhat helpless and guilty in my senior age white lower middle class homeowner lifestyle.

While I’m not a close personal friend, I’ve known Jeff Campbell for many years through his music, theater and advocacy.  I’ve know Jon Shockness aka Kid Astronaut since his days in Air Dubai.

Please share this video.  It’s an important message, not only to Mayor Hancock, but to city leaders all around Colorado who are struggling with folks forced to live in squalor on our streets.  I pray fervently we can ALL work together for a real solution to this tragedy.

If you’re a working member of our music community and you need help, please reach out.  Rocky Mountain Music Relief was established to help in times such as these.  We can’t solve your financial problems but we can offer a little bit of help.  Here’s the link to the aid application.

Peace,
chrisk
