Welcome KBCO Local Edition

The state of music in Colorado is excellent. Do not let anyone convince you otherwise.  More and more stations are signing on, and more and more events are popping up all over the state.  Recently, I reached out to KBCO (Boulder) to determine what local releases they were airing either as part of their regular programming, or in a specialty show.  Turns out, Margie McArdle is the girl.  She hosts the KBCO Local Edition every Sunday night from 10-10:30PM.  Okay – so it’s only a half hour – or about 6 songs.  I’ll take it.  This is what Margie has been playing the past few weeks on her show.

In her email to me, she expressed an avid interest in getting more QUALITY Colorado records — send cds, not digital files.

Boulder’s Immersive Records Debuts Video Series

Boulder, CO – Immersive Records, headquartered at Boulder, Colorado’s state-of-the-art recording facility Immersive Studios, recently released the first episode of its new video series, “Round The Tree.”  Check out the video for free at www.immersiverecords.com. Also, look for Immersive at SXSW, with Immersive recording artist Lara Ruggles at the SpokesBuzz Colorado Music Party.  Lara hits the upstairs stage at The 512 on 6th (408 E. Sixth St., Austin, TX 78701) on March 14 at 11:45 am.

Flexing its cutting edge muscle, Immersive Records’ unique Round The Tree (RTT)  video series captures artists in Immersive Studios performing around a five-channel surround microphone “tree,” free of headphones and processing.  Each performance is recorded direct to DSD audio and HD video, with an episode released every month at www.immersiverecords.com – available via a download purchase and free online streaming.  For this premier episode, RTT features Denver singer-songwriter Patrick Dethlefs (pronounced “DET-Lefs”), who is perfectly suited to feature what Round the Tree is all about. His intimate RTT session captures effortless sincerity, a stripped-down feel, and classic virtuosity.

Long Time NoCo Radio Vet Deni La Rue Wins CBA “Best Talk Show Host”

A few months ago a few of us were trying to figure out who has been on the air longest in Northern Colorado.  I started in September 1977.  The only other person I know who has been on the air longer is my friend Deni La Rue.  She was on the air at 93.3 KTCL back in the 70s .. then went to KUNC … then became the program director at KCSU about 90/91 … and for the past decade has been on the air as a volunteer community broadcaster at 88.9 KRFC (Fort Collins).

Congratulations Deni … sure do love you girl 🙂

CBAAwardLarue030814On March 8, 2014, the Colorado Broadcasters Association, CBA, awarded Deni La Rue a 1st place award for ‘Best Talk Show Host’, major market category, for Community at Work at KFRCfm, and a 2nd place place award for ‘Public Affairs Program – KRFC/Community at Work’ CAW). Community at Work is a Larimer County-KRFC partnership program that spotlights the issues that affect our communities by providing a closer look at the public agencies that serve citizens. La Rue, the Public Information Manager for Larimer County interviews County staff and officials who provide the programs. La Rue’s CAW program airs the second Thursday of the month from 6-6:30pm at 88.9fm and can also be heard at http://larimer.org/news/caw.htm. Other Thursday CAW shows are hosted by the Health District of Northern Larimer County and the City of Fort Collins.
