“Goat” emerged in 2000, Chris “K” in 1978, and Chris Kresge in 1955—born into a family steeped in music. His father was a professional musician, actor, engineer, restaurateur, and photographer, a path that intersected with Chris’s maternal grandfather “Bunny,” a Tin Pan Alley–era multi-instrumentalist and photographer active across the Trenton/Philly/NYC scene.
Born in Los Angeles on January 18, 1955, Chris was raised in Alaska, Pennsylvania, and Connecticut. He first reached Denver in 1973 during tech school at Lowry AFB, before being assigned to Minot AFB in North Dakota. By then he’d already begun deejaying Connecticut basement parties in 1969; the Air Force years sharpened those early skills. He finally settled in Colorado in 1976, with brief departures to New Mexico, Los Angeles, and the East Coast.
Chris began acting at six in Anchorage, launching a youth filled with stage work, music lessons, and early guitar ambitions inspired by Eric Clapton. His father’s Anchorage jazz club nurtured his fluency in entertainment, while high school brought recognition as a young stage director, though he never pursued acting or theater again after high school, instead leaning into broadcasting.
After the Air Force, he moved to Denver for broadcast school in 1976 and landed his first radio job in Roswell, NM, in 1978. Later that year he relocated to Greeley, working at KAFM/KFKZ, KUAD, local record stores, and as house DJ at Theo’s. A 1981 move to Los Angeles for band work led to a return to New England before reentering Colorado radio and band life in 1987. Over subsequent decades he held roles at KUAD, KSQI, KCSU, KIMN, KGLL, and KJAC.

Alien Cowboy at the Buffalo Rose, Golden, Colorado 1995
From 1987–92 he played in the northern Colorado band JAB, followed by Alien Cowboy, a southern-rock inspired jamband that opened for major acts like Dave Mason and Edgar Winter and toured England in 1999. After returning, he pursued solo work and began venue management at Archer’s in Fort Collins, presenting emerging Front Range artists. During this time, his late wife Miss Pattie (1952-2016) coined the “picky grumpy old goat” persona and logo, and Goatz! formed—eventually opening for artists like Guy Clark, Jim Lauderdale, Blackhawk, and Reckless Kelly.
In 2004 he joined Bohemian Nights (Fort Collins) and the CHUN People’s Fair (Denver) as talent advisor, stage manager and mainstage emcee. The Colorado Playlist launched in 2006 on KRFC in Fort Collins, and in 2008 he produced the Dacono Centennial Celebration, which evolved into the Dacono Music & Spirits Festival held the first Saturday in August annually.
On the air and on stage, Chris’ career has enveloped music in and from Colorado.

Thanks for everything always.
Hello Chris/Goat….
I read your bio…and we have a lot in common. Like you I was born in L.A. with a father who was a performer..and an uncle who scored a hit song in the country charts called “Good News, Bad News”. My father was Dane Jenkins and my uncle was Wayne Parker. Like you, I have done much acting..mostly in community theatre…Like you, I have lived and played music in different bands all over America..however, I have yet to visit Alaska…a bucket list thing! I moved to Colorado in 2008 and began playing clubs around the mountain ski resorts. I still travel the country playing original music during the “mud and shoulder” seasons. I now live and work out of Alma in South Park County. I am going to send you my latest album of original music called “Playground” http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/kevindanzig9 It was recorded at Madhouse Recorders in Leadville with producer Tim Stroh. It has received much airplay on Colorado’s Krystal 93. The song picks are “A Case Of Karma’, “Happily Ever After” and “Hey Dean!” I also have a popular duo called “Kevin & Faith” with Faith Crawford http://www.reverbnation.com/kevinandfaith We will be playing opening night of the Colorado Music Convergence in Breckenridge just a stones throw from the Riverwalk Center on Feb. 19th from 5-8pm at Motherloaded Tavern…They have a great happy hour! I hope to see you there. I also hope you find my CD pleasing enough to include it in your show sometime. Peace, Kevin Danzig http://www.kevindanzig.com
as much as I’d like to say I will be there, it isn’t likely right now. My wife is in hospice care right now, and I’m not planning too far out. I look fwd to hearing your music.

Hey Chris,
You know? I have been listening to you on and off for many years. You did leave off one station from your list.. 94.9, on Sundays I believe? It ‘s nice that KRFC kept your show. I didn’t think we’re able to do that yet?
Keep it up chris.
Howdy stranger!
what’s the short clip that plays during the show inbetween the local announcements – the one with the xylophone?
depends on which station you’re listening to. The short piece I use at the top and during breaks is a guitar piece by Robert Eldridge.
Well written, Chris.
Hunka hunka sleeveless denim jacket axe-playing Southern jam-rocking one-time Alaskan former AFB DJ Airman if I ever seen one. Great Earth Day show today, Chris K! From Rocky Mountain High to Mbou Moctar Sahara trance and the North Mississippi Allstars were especially lit.
hey, so a song played and i thought “man what a great artist” and came to the page to find a playlist that doesn’t exist. “no problem” i though, “ill find a linked playlist or something.” but playlists aren’t dated, just Season X episode X in a continuous stream, which isn’t very helpful. are we on episode 40? 41? 39? so, i quickly typed the lyrics i could remember into google, which didn’t work well. then host comes on, references nothing recently played.
so chris, please, list post the track list. i know you have it. you play great music and i want to buy these albums. help us.
What station were you listening on? The show airs on multiple stations multiple days and times a week. Every Monday I list the playlist in the Monday Morning Music Meeting and again on the Mixcloud stream. Pls email me for more information at chriskmusic@gmail.com … thank you for listenting.
