Monday MARCH 07, 2022 –It’s been a minute since I got to stand in front of a room of music fans and introduce some of our world class, award winning and hall of fame musicians. Saturday night I got to emcee the Boulder International Film Festival Singer/Songwriter Showcase, featuring Otis Taylor, Rebecca Folsom, Chris Daniels, Mark Oblinger, Dechen Hawk, Mojomama, and Abby Brown and others.
Rebecca Folsom and three time Grammy winner Tom Wasinger shared songs from their upcoming Sanctuary project, and Mojomama debuted a couple of new songs that they’re going into the studio at Mighty Fine Productions to record in the next couple of weeks.
Dechen Hawk informed me that he’ll be recording some new music – but that I shouldn’t expect the full band soul music he’s been more known for (at least in my collection). Where critics have declared him like Stevie Wonder and Jeff Buckley tossed into a blender, we should expect more “acoustic” balladeer styled music from Dechen this year.
The Lumineers and Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats retain their hold at #1 and #2 on the weekly charts – BUT could we be seeing a stranglehold on the top three positions with the new Infamous Stringdusters album now solidly in that spot? The reworked Oh, Frustration by A.J. Fullerton with Eddie Roberts makes it way into this week’s TOP 5 along with the latest EP release from Zoe Berman.
