FAN FAVORITE POLL – 2013 – Indie / New Alternative

If you’re old enough you still think of “indie” as being all about a DIY ethos and practice – yeah, not so much really.  That’s still prevalent with our list of Indie / New Alternate titles of 2013 – but Colorado is really known to many as a birthplace of sorts for “indie” music — going back to the goth-Americana of 16 Horsepower that evolves into Wovenhand — or the likes of the Apples in Stereo or Dressy Bessy.  However we define it, it’s one of the more popular “styles” of music in Colorado today.

Only those records released between November 1, 2012 and October 30, 2013 are considered “current” 2013 releases for the purpose of this poll, and the end of year charts.

FAN FAVORITE POLL – 2013 – Folk / folk-rock / singer songwriter

In the history of Colorado music, we’ve had more than our share of tremendous folk artists, and singer-songwriters … John Denver, Dan Fogelberg, Judy Collins, Harry Tuft, Chuck Pyle and others just to name a handful… even Bob Dylan who lived in Denver for a brief time in the 60s.  This year’s list is among the most impressive in recent years …

Only those records released between November 1, 2012 and October 30, 2013 are considered “current” 2013 releases for the purpose of this poll, and the end of year charts.  Pick your three favorites of the year.  Pls share.

Indie / New Alternative
Jazz / Instrumental

FAN FAVORITE POLL – 2013 – Blues / Rhythm & Blues

It was an exceptional year for blues in Colorado.  Dan Treanor’s Afrosippi Band featuring Erica Brown delivered an award winning performance at the ICB (International Blues Challenge) Memphis last winter, bringing home “the bronze.”  This year, Cary Morin won the in-state solo/duo Colorado Blues Society Challenge – so he’ll represent at the IBC in January, as will Bad Brad & the Fat Cats, who took home the trophy in the band category.  Brad represented in the youth category last year.

Only those records that were released between November 1, 2012 and October 30, 2013 are considered “current” 2013 releases.
