The Colorado Sound S7 EP23 June 2013

chris at ob hmls sunday june 16 2013Just got in from the Colorado Brewer’s Festival … actually got in last nite – but it feels like I just got in.  To the friends I saw over the weekend .. much love – the lineup was stellar, and we had the most perfect weather imaginable.

I’ve got to mention that there’s a new radio station in Fort Collins/Greeley/Loveland that promises to go where no other commercial station has gone before in NoCo.  “Radio 94.9 FM, Colorado’s Finest Rock” debuted on May 17 @ only 100 watts, and is also featured on sister station 107.9 KPAW-HD2, as well as online at  www.Radio949colorado.com and  iHeartRadio.  Long-time  market radio pro (started at KTCL in the late 70s) and current Clear Channel market manager for NoCo, Stu Haskell, reiterated to me over the weekend (and several other times over the past month) that there will be a Colorado music focus on this station – – and as such the station is asking bands from around the region to submit their material for airplay consideration.  Haskell was recently quoted as saying that “Radio 94.9 will be a perfect fit for the Fort Collins local music scene and lifestyle.  We’re especially excited to spotlight local artists as part of our regular programming and offer the local community a unique radio station that has been missing from this area for a long time.”

In other station news, 88.9FM KRFC (Fort Collins) is now airing The Colorado Sound on Saturday nights from 8-10PM, with Hour 1 repeated on Tuesday nights from 7-8PM and Hour 2 repeated on Thursday night from 7-8PM.  Don’t forget – the weekly show that you hear on KRFC, KOTO (Telluride), KDNK (Roaring Fork Valley), KWMV (Westcliffe), and KFVR (Pueblo) is different than what you hear on The Colorado Sound Live365.  The program focuses on that current week’s hottest new releases, along with breaking news and notes from around the scene.  The online station focuses on the current month’s TOP 40 + selections from my collection broken down into four sections => Hitmakers, CO’mericana, Funk n Jazz n Nugz, Rockin the Rockies, and Weeknights/weekender mixes.

Don’t forget – vote for your three favorite Colorado releases of 2013 = http://thecoloradosound.com/2013/06/13/whats-your-favorite-new-album-of-2013/

Stations =>I’ve got a couple of  new releases coming to you in the next week … I’m getting ready to send out a limited number of the new release from the 3 Twins (featuring former Subdudes members John Magnie & Steve Amedee + members of the 12 Cents for Marvin horn section & the wonderful Nicole Zentveld on vocals).  The album is called De Nada … no doubt it will land as one of the top OTB adds in July.

That’s it … I’m out … have a super fantastic week … and I’ll leave you with the Video Pick of the Week and four brand new music shares …

Video Pick of the week comes from Herman’s Hideaway talent buyer Chris Thomas – formerly of Spools of Thread, and now upfront with Omniism.
