Monday Dec 20, 2021 – New music Monday – it’s our weekly Monday Morning Music Meeting. Help me pick what stays and what goes.

Amanda Juline came to Colorado from Guam and brought her sunshine pop reggae with her. Bluebook is nearly legendary Denver songstress Julie Davis who’s toured and/or recorded with Nathaniel Rateliff and Gregory Alan Isakov. Bear & the Beasts reprise an old Credence Clearwater Revival song and enter the “best cover of 2022” list. And, Highlands Ranch native, country-pop singer-songwriter, Grammy award nomineee Ingrid Andress returns with Sam Hunt alongside of her. Vote below.

Monday NOV 29, 2021 – I hope you had a great weekend. While we were all indulging in the fixings and trappings that go with the start of the end of year holiday seasons, I posted the 12th Annual Colorado Playlist Listener Poll.

Categories include Album (LP/EP), Alternative/Indie, Americana/Country, Blues/Rock/R&B, Cover/Remake, Duo or Band, Female, Folk/Singer-Songwriter, Funk/Soul/R&B, Jazz Album, Male, New Artist/Band, Pop/Light Rock, Rock/Hard Rock/Punk, Single Release

The Burroughs and the Velveteers show up again in this week’s TOP 5, and there shouldn’t be any surprise who tops the TOP 30 coming out in a few days.

Monday NOV 15, 2021 – There are a lot of places to see live music along the northern Front Range from Denver to Fort Collins. Recently we attended a show at the Brighton Armory, owned and operated by the City of Brighton.

The Armory hosts a variety of music and other programs. The venue is a beautiful 300 capacity room with exquisite sound and lighting elements with regional original art on the walls. Most shows are set up for seating in nicely padded seats while leaving room at the back of the house for those who like to dance.

We recently attended the The Petty Nicks Experience at the Brighton Armory. The Petty Nicks Experience is one of Colorado’s leading tribute bands. Adrienne Osborn plays the role of Stevie Nicks, and out-Stevies the now 73 year old Stevie Nicks. Julian Fulco Perron portrays the late Tom Petty in the show and brings both a reasonable look and vocal style to Petty classics. Here’s a video I took at the show.

Monday NOV 01, 2021 – Sad news broke over the weekend, when Madison House announced veteran booking agent, manager and founding partner Jesse Aratow died on October 29th. A cause of death for Aratow was not disclosed but Madison House said that his passing was unexpected. Some unofficial reports suggest Jesse may have died following a workout at a gym.

Due to unfortunate technical issues related to changing out software, 105.5 The Colorado Sound was unable to air this week’s episode of the show.

Time to hunker down. November is the traditional start of the new-release year, so, 2022. It’s also the month when many of us in the media start to flesh out our annual “Best Of” lists. Monday Oct 18, 2021 – The first task when I get up and pour coffee on Monday morning is to sit down and write out the Monday morning blog post. Typically, I scan headlines and my FB newsfeed.

Today’s feed was a sad reminder that a) COVID is still killing people, even those who have been vaccinated, and b) that despite COVID, “…we think this lasts forever … it doesn’t; forgive, love and be good to one another.”

That quote was the last line in a post by Colorado Music Hall of Fame musician and educator Chris Daniels, informing us that veteran Kings bassist Kevin “Bro” Lege is in the ICU at St. Anthony’s, “…getting amazing care …but the outlook is not great.”

Chris didn’t indicate the reason for “Bro’s” condition, but we do know that former Secretary of State Colin Powell passed away last night from complications related to COVID.

As Chris Daniels reminds us, “…we think this lasts forever …it doesn’t; forgive, love and be good to one another.”
