July 15, 2014 – Fort Collins, CO – Now entering the third successful year, Colorado music nonprofit SpokesBUZZ is excited to announce the partner bands that will participate in BandSwap 2014.
This year, the program will send Colorado bands to play shows with partner bands in partner cities in late September, then bring the bands and their partners back to Colorado for a series of shows and events in early October.
BandSwap is a musical and cultural alliance among like-minded cities combining the best of grassroots collaboration, cross-promotion, creative connectivity and most of all, the unrivaled experience of live music.
Returning as partner cities in the BandSwap 2014 program are Madison, Chico, Lafayette, Portland and Nashville; Athens and Charleston are this year’s freshman class.
BandSwap creates a stage for other opportunities for connections among the cities through innovative cultural programming. This year, in addition to the performances in outbound cities and homecoming cities, BandSwap includes InnovationSwap, SynchroniCITY parties and Cultural Spotlight.
Please stay tuned, as we’ll be announcing more details (more bands, venues, dates, and more!) in the coming months. And bookmark the BandSwap website and SpokesBUZZ Facebook page for more updates.
SpokesBUZZ founder Dani Grant says, “Traditional touring is linear and very slow to grow. The theory behind BandSwap is to build reciprocity and strong relationships with bands, venues, civic partners, music industry professionals and local artist support organizations. That reciprocity helps create a network that can grow fan bases for artists and spread some civic pride at the same time…. In addition to sharing a stage and marquee in their respective cities, all the bands will also share resources, industry contacts and community connections while attracting attention to this unique program and the progressive cities that embody BandSwap’s cooperative, creative spirit.”
I hope you got a chance this weekend to check out the Colorado radio debut of the new Richie Furay single “We Were the Dreamers” from his upcoming album “Hand in Hand,” along with the debut of the show statewide on KUNC. My wife was so excited, she recorded a video of the debut of the show on the radio on her iPhone while we were on our way to get ice cream, without me even noticing LOL.
I also hope you got the chance to go out and see some live music this weekend. Here’s a recap of this past weekend in Fort Collins – shows courtesy of the Fort Collins Downtown Business Association, and the Bohemian Foundation.
