The Colorado Sound S7 EP15 April 2013 + News, New Music & Video of Week
What a weekend. Kicks off the entire spring/summer/fall season for me. Two days at FOCOMX5… sound in Lyons on Sunday… Upper Colfax/Root 40 Music Festival and Expo on Monday .. then it seems that just bout every wkend from here on out is booked with one event or sound gig … gonna be a fun year 🙂
News I picked up during the weekend: NO Fort Collins Jazz Experience this year. The DBA (Downtown Business Assoc) squashed that show (lack of sponsorships?) in favor of doing six individual Friday night shows in Old Town. Also, inside sources in Arliss Nancy have squashed rumors of their impending move to Chicago – at least for now. Their label wants to send them back to Europe this fall, but they need an album to tour behind, so they are back in the studio working to get new album done and out by late June/early July. New 3-Twins Broadband record is nearing completion… got advanced copy this weekend… also heard from maestro John Macy that the new Casey James Prestwood & the Burning Angels record is almost done, as is the new Richie Furay record .. hope to have both before the end of summer festival season. Also heard from Chad Price that Drag the River is in the studio working on their first release in three years… again, hoping for summer release. In the meantime, Jon Snodgrass is in Europe right now with his old band Armchair Martian.
New Churchill due out this week … the 23rd in fact… they didn’t leave a way to embed the new single, “The War Within,” but here’s the link to it on their website. http://churchilltheband.com/the-war-within-ep/
The Congress has one of the most talked about new albums of the year among many in the scene – The Loft Tapes. Video Pick of the Week is their tasty take on the Roberta Flack classic “Killing Me Softly.” Enjoy.
