Colorado Playlist – S10 EP21

News broke late last week, before the show posted, that Elephant Revival lost their tour bus and with that, their equipment and personal belongings.  At 9:00 on Friday morning, the band posted:

Greetings friends…. We are writing to let you all know that we are safe and sound this morning. An electrical fire ignited in the back of the bunk room. Luckily, we were already parked at the venue in North Carolina. It all happened very quickly, while some of us were sleeping and some of us were waking. A chorus of voices yelled smoke, as the initial flames encroached upon Daniel’s feet in the back lower bunk. Within two minutes, black smoke billowed through the windows as the interior of the bus went up in flames.

We are so appreciative for this life, our family and friends, and each other. Thank you to the Red Cross, the fire department and the good people of Hickory. We’ve lost much in terms of material possessions and instruments of the trade, yet we remain grateful.

Much love to our friends in E.R.  .. there’s a gofundme page set up to help defray the cost of rebuilding.

Our Monday Morning Music Meeting this week has newcomers Brother Wild “Leave It All Behind” — A wonderful new song dedicated to the world’s #1 rock and roll cancer charity, Love Hope Strength – appropriated titled by Dave Tamkin — Colorado legendary indie pop act Dressy Bessy — and national up and comers Edison who have a new album due out this summer “Civil War”

Colorado Playlist S10 EP19

Monday (early afternoon) — sometimes it takes more hours to recover from a long hot weekend of live music than I care for LOL.  It happens.  Saturday I spent the day in the sun with Mama Lenny & the Remedy, Grant Farm, and Justin Roth as part of the Poudre River Fest in Fort Collins.  Yesterday my recover was broken up by a sound gig in Lyons.  All in all a nice weekend of music.

In the Monday Morning Music Meeting this week I have three tracks from Bonnie & the Clydes, Morning Bear, and Wolf Poets .. unfortunately, SIR (formerly Sarah & the Meanies) did not have an embed file available to share with you.

And let me know if you’re paying attention here … I know you didn’t vote last week (I can “see” you LOL).

Enjoy.

Colorado Playlist – S10 EP18 2016

It’s Memorial Day.  If you can’t make it to a cemetery or event honoring our lost in battle, please take a moment to reflect on our service men and women.  #VietnamEraVet  Long live our lost fathers, sons and brothers and sisters. RIP.

I got to stage manage this weekend at the Denver Day of Rock and hang out with some very good friends in music and sound, stage and lighting production … particularly the crews from Mighty Fine Productions (Denver) and Nomad Productions (Austin/Denver).

Happy to see Sarah SlatonDustin Morris and Maxwell Hughes, aka Edison pop into my venue, where Dearling and Foxfield Four started things off … also got to meet Kendall B from KS107.5 and Jim Benemann from CBS4 News – two of our guest emcees for the day.

Very honored to have been able to debut new singles this week from the Motet and OneRepublic .. thanks to Dave Watts and the Motet promotion team for advancing the new album Totem due out July 18th.  Once again, the Motet shows why they are a national caliber Colorado funk band with booty shakin’ songs that will make boomers remember the bump, and their kids something very old school to balance out the nu-skool from whence it came.  “Damn!” would have been a dance-hall smash in 1978-1980 .. and it damn sure might be in 2016.

Make sure you vote in this week’s Monday Morning Music Meeting.

GOATZ! News and Shows

Chris K FOCOMX8 2cI put up a rare rehearsal recording this weekend for the song “Sweet Inspiration” that I wrote for my wife before she passed away.  Our very good friend Chris Kennison (pedal steel) is an original “Goat” and played our wedding.  This was the first rehearsal of the new season with him back in the lineup.  Having him back for our summer shows means a lot to me – it’s the first time he and Chris Jackowski (guitar and vocals) and I will perform without our beloved Miss Pattie in the 13 years we’ve played music together.
