CP S14 EP10 2020

Monday March 16 2020 – We are living in some crazy times.  Nearly every person I know personally is somehow connected to the business surrounding music.  For many of us, it’s our direct livelihood.

As we all know by now, nearly every major event – music, theater and sports – has either been canceled or postponed to a later date.  For now, no one knows when things will return to normal.

While we cannot know or count ALL of the misplaced shows, the folks at 105.5 The Colorado Sound (where I work, and where this show is aired) have put together a guide to help.

Over the weekend, Kerry Pastine & the Crime Scene, as well as Bonnie & The Cyldes Bonnie & Taylor Sims held FaceBook live shows from their respective homes.  The Crime Scene reported over 4600 streams.  Pretty damn impressive.  Let’s keep these shows going.

At the bottom of this page today, following THIS WEEK ON YOUTUBE, there is a note about how we can all help a little …

One non-music (well, almost non-music) event to let you know about.  The NOCO HEMP EXPO scheduled for March 27-28 has been rescheduled for August 6-8.  Thanks to them for their financial support.  I’m looking forward to emceeing their Northern Colorado “super-star” show, alongside Denver rock radio legend Uncle Nasty.  See you there in August.

The Colorado Playlist is fully dependent on financial support from my sponsors … if you’re a music related business and you’d like to sponsor the show, email me at coloradoplaylist@gmail.com

At Bohemian Foundation, our focus is on building community …by coming together to create and enjoy music.

ROCKY MOUNTAIN MUSIC RELIEF

A couple of years ago some friends and I launched Rocky Mountain Music Relief, a non-profit dedicated to helping musicians in our area due to natural disasters. I’d like to activate it in order to help out during this time of need in our community. I’m not sure I know what that looks like to be honest.

Our health and well being are paramount, and that includes the need for medical care, food and adequate housing.  While we work on how best to activate our mission to serve our local musicians in need during this natural disaster, please donate.

Also, I’ve noticed some musicians doing live sets via Facebook Live and other means. Let’s do our best to support these efforts. I have many friends whose national and international tours have been either canceled or postponed. I have many more friends who survive at least partially on local gigs – that are now cancelled.

SUPPORT LIVE MUSIC ONLINE TODAY. SHOW YOUR LOVE FOR YOUR FAVORITE MUSICIANS FROM COLORADO BY VIEWING THEIR FACEBOOK LIVE SHOWS. PLEASE TIP WHAT YOU CAN, BUT IF NOTHING ELSE YOUR LOVE MATTERS MOST.

CP S14 EP09 2020

Monday March 9, 2020 – MARCH 08 is International Women’s Day.  In honor of that, this week’s show was dedicated to and in celebration of the incredible women of Colorado music, from the 60s to today.  See YOUTUBE THIS WEEK below.

It was another weekend of emceeing … this time for the Boulder International Film Festival singer-songwriter Showcase, held at the POST in Boulder.  Several of Colorado’s top flight women appeared, including Jessica Rogalski (Mojomama), Abby Brown, Riley Ann, Finn O’Sullivan and Caroline Quine (Bitter Root).  Wendy Woo appeared at a special after party show on Friday night.

Thanks to Lisa Bell, another of our region’s top flight women in music, and her team for putting together a stellar lineup of performers.  The Thursday night show was the first for the film festival, and the 100 capacity room at the POST was packed all night.

At Bohemian Foundation, our focus is on building community …by coming together to create and enjoy music.

NoCo Hemp Expo - Denver, Colorado

CP S14 EP08 2020

Monday March 2, 2020 – Another week and another weekend full of live music.  Friday night I emcee’d the Future Arts Foundation‘s Winter Folk: Music & Photography Showcase at the St. Vrain event center in Longmont.  Congrats to Travis Albright and his team for an amazing month of music that included some of the top Americana country-folk, singer-songwriters and bluegrass in our scene today along with a few nationally recognized names.  Look for more from FAF in the near future.

Saturday night was spent at Washington’s FoCO for the 105.5 The Colorado Sound 4th b-day party.  Being one of the staff and on air talent at 105.5 has been among the greatest joys of my 41 years in NoCO broadcasting.

The opening act was Kiltro, a Denver band fronted by guitarist/vocalist Chris Castillo, originally from Chile.  According to the guests who attended with me (2 most recently moved here from New Jersey), Kiltro won the night because of their Chilean influences and because the vocals appeared secondary to the music, which reminded them of Pink Floyd at times.

Now managed by 7s Management (Nathaniel Rateliff & the Nightsweats, The Motet, Brent Cowles), Kiltro will be appearing at the Stanley Hotel in Estes Park and the Gothic Theater in Denver over the next couple of weeks.

At Bohemian Foundation, our focus is on building community …by coming together to create and enjoy music.
