(Sunday March 30 4PM) — I am screaming busy pulling spin data for the April 1 “News, Notes & Spins” post. So, I’m just a few hours late this week. I am very happy to announce a sponsorship partnership with an old friend of mine. Chuck Grewe and I played together in a band for several years in the 90s. Today, he is the bass player for the Fort Collins’ based Wooleye, and he and his brother Bill own Colorado Case Company. I am beyond pleased that my old friend and his brother have decided to support our efforts in elevating awareness of Colorado music on the radio. Please visit their site (link below)
Question from a young (18-24) musician: “We can’t seem to sell cds; what are we doing wrong?” You’re not. Research indicates that the 18-24 age group is more interested in listening to streaming services (YouTube is #1) and broadcast radio than purchasing either a digital rendering, or a physical copy. With iTunes on the way to building a Pandora killer (good luck with that), there won’t be much of a need to purchase – especially if the streaming service offered is free (yes, we’re willing to tolerate advertising). That should not stop anyone from participating in Record Store Day on April 19.
