The Colorado Sound S8 EP18 May 2014

mothersdaycrayonsignHappy Mothers’ Day.  Not too much to say today.  Enjoy the day with your mom if you can, and if you can’t then enjoy the warm memories we all share of our mom’s.

We’ve been enjoying the incredible 1982 Zephyr Heartbeat album the past month … and we’re not done with it yet.  Gonna have to be soon though, as new classics are coming in this month from Billy Ryan & Black Irish (2005 remaster of 1988 S/T album + demos) and then sometime around the end of the month we’ll have the newly remastered 1969 Zephyr, featuring Tommy Bolin, Rainbow in the Bathtub as well as outtakes, demos and Zephyr Live @ Tulagi’s record to share.

Looking forward into June, we should have the self-released album from the wonderful Richie Furay, who turned 70 this week.  WOW!  Happy Birthday Richie.

I sure do hope you’ve been catching the recent episodes of the show, as I’ve featured tracks from one of Colorado’s “lost” recordings – Zepyr’s “Heartbeat” (1982).  I added a couple of cuts from the “Heartbeat” (1982) to the morning mix at The Colorado Sound Live365.  Coming up in May I’ll also have remastered versions of Zephyr’s 1969 debut, the “Rainbow In the Bathtub.”

Festival mode folks.  Crazy wkend.  FoCoMX Friday and Sat.  Root 40 Fest Sunday.  FoH sound at FoCoMX (Equinox Brewing).  Vendor table for Rocky Mountain Music Network/The Colorado Sound on Sunday.  That’s all I’ve got.  Working desperately to get the May 1 edition of News Notes & Spins done.  Don’t know if I can get there, but we’ll sure try.

Of course, the big deal this week is the Zephyr “Heartbeat” record hitting my desk – in both a refurbished rip from the original vinyl and a newly remastered version courtesy of original founder David Givens.
