CP S17 EP10 2023

Barr Lake, Brighton, CO – Winter 2022 courtesy of ClearVistasPhotography

MONDAY MARCH 13, 2023. Claire and I are off to Death Valley this week. Looking forward to some desert warmth and spring flowers. So, if there’s no post next Monday, you know why.

The word is out that I’m “retiring.” Not entirely. I’m leaving Northern Colorado radio & music after a forty-five year run and moving to Grand Junction. I will continue to produce the Colorado Playlist. And who knows what else I can do in “retirement.”

#COMUSIC TOP FIVE WK ENDING 3/11

Spin data pulled from the Colorado Playlist, 105.5 The Colorado Sound, Indie 102.3, 88.9 KRFC  and ten other stations that use playlist generator Spinitron, offering search functions for artists and agents to track airplay.

*The Wood Brothers are not, specifically speaking, a locally based band, but as it custom on the Colorado Playlist I also include Colorado expats living elsewhere – so long as they were born and raised here, or got started here .. so the new Wood Brothers tracks (one due out in April) get included.*

(4) 2. ALYSIA KRAFT – First Light LP (Jun-22)

CP S17 EP09 2023

Monday FEB 27, 2023 – This week’s picture is a view of Grand Junction, Colorado from the Colorado National Monument, which is where I’m sitting this morning … looking up at the red rocks of the monument.

Happy 7th Birthday 105.5 The Colorado Sound. Seven years ago I entered what is now the final stage in my six decade long career in music and radio in Northern Colorado (1978-2023). On February 28, 2016, my show went from being called the Colorado Sound (2006-2016) to being renamed Chris K’s Colorado Playlist, when I became part of the on-air staff at KJAC FM (Greeley) henceforth known as 105.5 The Colorado Sound.

I have had the tremendous pleasure of working with some of the best in Northern Colorado radio history – none more than my friends and colleagues over the past seven years – Benji (now a program director in Dallas, TX), Margot (mid-days, program director), Stacy (afternoons, music director), Ron (evenings, promotion director), Ben (mornings), Dawn (weekends) and Kurt (website and social media director).

Thank you all for being a part of the success. It’s been the ride of my life.

Here’s what’s happening in #COMUSIC for the week! No weekly TOP 5 sorry to say. I’ll post up the monthly TOP 30 in a few days. In the meantime, pls let us know what you think of this week’s new music shares.
