The Colorado Sound S7 EP28 July 2013 (subtitle: One Busy Summer for Goat)

chris at ob hmls sunday june 16 2013Too busy.  Yesterday was my youngest son’s wedding in Castle Rock.  It went well until after the ceremony, when the rain came down and washed out the party that featured Chris Daniels & the Kings.  Today, somehow or another, I have to pull spins for Aug News Notes and Spins column .. and take my grand daughter to the movies lol.  Have a great day 🙂

I don’t have too many pics of me with my two youngest, Christopher and Elisha.  Elisha says I have to wait until I’m 80 before she gets married … yeah, right kid 😉

Friday night I was at the Alibi in Laramie, Wyoming – one of my favorite venues anywhere – doing sound for my pals Halden Wofford & the Hi*Beams.

Thursday night I was emceeing the Bohemian Nights Thursday Night Live show in Fort Collins that featured Wasteland Hop.  Next Thursday night it’s the return of Diana Castro …

Next Friday night, Aug 2, I’ll be in Fort Collins to emcee for the Downtown Summer Sessions, featuring The Holler! with the Gromet, produced by the Fort Collins’ Downtown Business Association.

Next Saturday, August 3, it’s the 6th Annual Carbon Valley Music & Spirits Festival in Dacono featuring the Samples, Face, Dan Treanor’s Afrosippi Band with Erica Brown, After Midnight Jazz Band, Monocle, Jaden Carlson Band, Jake Miles and more.

Video Pick of the Week – new from Strange Americans frontman Matt Hoffman off his solo EP Lateral Moves

The Colorado Sound – S7 EP27 July 2013

chris at ob hmls sunday june 16 2013No time for chit chat this week folks  – I’m on a tear.   No video this week.  No music shares this week.  But some interesting buzz to share.  Super busy this week.  Friday night … Emcee Liz Barnez and Hazel Miller show – Old Town Square, Fort Collins.  Saturday 12PM-10PM = sound at the Denver Post Underground Music Showcase (DPUMS)/South Broadway Christian Church.  Sunday 3PM-11PM = sound at DPUMS/Mutiny.

So the question is, why has there been no followup to the news that Churchill has broken up, canceled two arena tours, and a Jay Leno appearance?  No one .. not Westword, not the Denver Post, not me .. not anyone I know in the press has provided a followup to the HeyReverb.com article announcing the “breakup.”  My attempts yesterday to find the answer only resulted in a deeper mystery.  Sources close to the band “informed me” (subtle insides that I had to infer meanings from) that the band may not have “broken up” and may be working on solving the problems that precipitated the “break up” to begin with.  In the meantime, members of Churchill along with Dan Craig have launched a new project called Navy that I’ll be looking out for.

That’s it .. gotta run .. here’s the playlist

Pretty Lights Hits #1

here we are just barely into the week and news broke this morning that Pretty Lights – no doubt the most popular act to ever break out of Fort Collins – has hit the national charts running … ‘A Color Map Of The Sun’ cracked the US Top 30 this week, debuting at 24 and vinyl sales were high enough to make it the number one LP in the country, knocking Daft Punk off their six-week long run in the #1 slot.  Kudo’s to Derek.  … and all of that in spite of it being available to dl for free at PL’s website.
