CP S13 EP25 2019

MONDAY JUNE 24, 2019 – Rumors swirled over the weekend concerning former Yonder Mountain String Band founding member Jeff Austin.  Despite numerous social media posts alluding to a possible suicide, official reports emerged that he suffered a undisclosed medical emergency and was is Seattle with family being attended to.  What little information is available, and crowdfunding has been set up at Sweet Relief Musicians Fund.

In this week’s show I highlighted some of the best of 2013 in  HOUR 1 and some of the best of 2014 in HOUR 2.  Over the next many weeks I will continue to highlight some of the best of each year as we approach the BEST OF THE DECADE.  With that, I’ve put up two polls already for Best of 2010 and 2011, so you can vote for your favorites from those years.

MMMM this week = Gun Street Ghost, Heavy Diamond Ring, Bobby Messano, Swerve, The Threadbarons, and Brian Bourgault – KEEP or DELETE?

CP S13 EP21 2019

Monday May 19, 2019

It doesn’t happen often – but it sure did this week as I was able to rip open five new tracks that are currently not available online – not on YouTube, Bandcamp, SoundCloud or Reverbnation, the sites I use to share new tracks for the MMMM (Monday Morning Music Meeting).  Artists are sending me stuff LONG before they can get them online, or in the case of Clandestine Amigo, to not put them out online for public consumption at all.

Songs from Clandestine Amigo, Dust Heart, Kyle Emerson, Coal Town Reunion, and Andy Eppler were only made available this week for radio airplay on the Colorado Playlist.  They are NOT available, at this time, online.

Coming in the next episode, new music from Alan & Martin, Courtney Hartman, Jackson Emmer, Grayson Erhard, Stillhouse Junkies and Tyto Alba.

The Colorado Playlist is supported by The Mishawaka Amphitheatre, Oskar Blues Brewery, and the Bohemian Foundation. Additional support comes from the fans – you!  Please consider supporting the show by making a contribution.

VIDEO PICK OF THE WEEK

I’ve been a fan of the Samples since they emerged in the late 80s, here in Colorado.  Formed, and not fully fronted, by Sean Kelly, the Samples have put out over 20 albums since their debut in 1989.  They’ve got a new album coming out soon called “Indian Summer.”  This is the first single from the album.

CP S13 EP16 2019

Monday April 15, 2019

There’s not enough time or space in the show to play every new piece of music I receive.  #firstworldproblem I usually try to get 2 debuts in every hour, as well as a (N) new track from a previous debut.  But right now, we’re fat with new music emanating from the Centennial State.

I put in a couple extra new tracks this week, where usually I’d be able to play a cut or two from already played albums or singles I’d like to give more airtime to.  Because, really, repetition breeds familiarity, which is how hits are made. Let me know which of the new songs you think I should keep in the Playlist.

Many thanks and big love to Westword, SceneNoCO and Bandwagon Magazine for the articles about me and my debut.  And many many thanks to the folks at Bohemian for inviting my band GOATZ! to play at Magic Rat this past week, and at Washington’s FoCO opening for Blackhawk on May 12.

VIDEO PICK OF THE WEEK

Sometimes you write a song and it takes years to mature to what it’s meant to be …sorta like a fine wine or whiskey.  “Hold On Me” is a song written by Taylor Sims, one half of the Taylor and Bonnie Sims duo that makes up the core of Bonnie & the Clydes.  Taylor originally wrote it for his old band, Springcreek Bluegrass.  In this more “country” arrangement, the couple dives straight into the story.
