HAPPY VETERANS DAY
NEVER FORGET

As we approach the midway point of November, it seems that site traffic has hit a hard roadblock of sorts. I hope you’ll remember to stop by and check out the new music in the MMMM and vote to KEEP or DELETE.

As this is the time of the year to give thanks – I cannot give enough to the stations and listeners who make this show possible.  I would love to meet you … and with that I’ll be appearing with my long time musical partner Chris Jackowski and local teenage fiddle phenom Jackson Earles at Red Truck Beer Company in Fort Collins on NOV 17, and with my full electric band lineup at Oskar Blues Homemade Liquids and Solids in Longmont on NOV 24.  I hope you can come by so I can thank you in person for your support.

NEW this week YouTube Colorado Playlist of all the tracks from this week’s episode .. which includes new MMMM tracks from Foxfeather, AMZYKing Eddie, AMZY, Kid Reverie, Joe Johnson, and Tnertle.

Make sure you follow me on Spotify to find out what new artists I might be checking out.  This week’s Spotify playlist is short some fine tracks from SUCH, Angie Stevens & the Beautiful Wreck, Zephyr and Alpha Centauri

I found all of this week’s tracks on YouTube – the first CP YouTube weekly playlists.  Pls let me know what you think.

At Bohemian Foundation, our focus is on building community …by coming together to create and enjoy music.

VIDEO PICK OF THE WEEK

Speaking of Zephyr — very very happy that they along with original lead guitarist Tommy Bolin will be inducted into the Colorado Music Hall of Fame in 2019.

Also being inducted is the truly legendary Freddie-Henchi Band.  Both Zephyr and the Freddi-Henchi Band were signed early on their careers in the late 60s, but wound up being more regionally famous as time went on;   Zephyr until Candy’s death in 1984, and the FHB until the mid to late 80s when various life issues (drugs, booze, etc) decimated the band.

FHB would re-emerge in the mid 90s for a brief run.  Freddi “Love” Gowdy appears with Chris Daniels & the Kings featuring Freddi Gowdy today.

CP S12 EP42 2018

Monday Nov 5, 2018 – It’s pretty rare that jazz gets featured in the MMMM (Monday Morning Music Meeting) – but this week there are two cuts – one from Jason Klobnak and one from Keith Oxman, who shockingly in this era has no social media or web presence but whose new album is on Spotify.

There were a few cuts not available for this week’s Spotify playlist – so this one runs 1 hour 19 mins.  Enjoy

COMING SOON!  New Brent Loveday & the Dirty Dollars will show up in EP44 of the show.  If you don’t know who Brent Loveday is – look up Reno Divorce.  The new album took several years for Brent to put together, and is one that dives into his alt-country-rock  voice.

Monday Oct 29 2018 Well, that’s it.  October is in the books, and with it the 2018 new release year.  It’s been an exciting year of music – and now it’s time to start working on what records will be considered among the best of the past year.  Be looking for upcoming polls and posts with your chance to vote.

I had the pleasure of interviewing Betsy Mortenson and Harrison Goodale, the principles behind Sustain Music & Nature, an amazing organization that recently invited the Burroughs to participate in in Songscapes.  Here’s our chat:

VIDEO PICK OF THE WEEK

Anyone doubting that the Album of the Year is for 2018?  Oh, and have you heard of Nathaniel’s new candy bar?

“A Little Honey” Handcrafted Chocolate with Honey, Blood Orange, and Marigold

“Inspired by Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats’ “A Little Honey”, this limited edition craft chocolate is a fundraising collaboration between The Marigold Project, Small Batch America, and Fruition Chocolate Works. Made with 74% dark heirloom Costa Rican cacao, organic honey, blood orange, and marigold petals. Packaged in a letterpress sleeve.

Proceeds from ‘A Little Honey’ will benefit The Marigold Project and Denver Urban Garden’s work to support Denver residents in creating sustainable, food-producing neighborhood community gardens. DUG knows that in order to make lasting change, the community needs to drive it. That’s why every one of their urban gardens and farms have been started and led by local residents. They currently have over 170 gardens in six counties in the Metro Denver Area.”

CP S12 EP40 2018

Monday Oct 22 2018 … Here in about another two weeks we enter the 2019 release year – which will include any NEW releases submitted for airplay after Nov 1.

2018 has been a rather amazing year.  Currently in the CP song catalog for 2018 there are over 390 song titles … from over 100 LPs alone – not including EPs and single releases.

So far this year I’ve seen more singles released than at any time I’ve done this show over the paste 12 years.  This weekend I spoke with the owners of one of our prestigious studios.  They affirmed they’ve seen more singles being produced than at any time they could recall.

Basically, it’s going to make for an interesting end of year “Best Of.”

Congratulations to Randall Frazier and Elisa Canali.  Randall is the long time production manager and talent buyer for Ophelia’s Electric Soapbox as well as a longtime label owner (Helmut Room), sound and recording engineer, producer, tour manager and musician in the scene.  Randall and Elisa met when Randall took her on as an intern learning sound.  She is now Randall’s assistant and soon to be legally married life partner.  Much love to both …

Ophelia’s has also announced they’re launching a new label based on live recordings that Randall will produce at the venue.  The launch is set for early 2019.

The Colorado Music Hall of Fame class for 2018 has been announced.  It’s a night dedicated to AEG’s Chuck Morris, who got started promoting shows in Boulder in the late 60s.  Also being inducted – 97.3FM KBCO, a pioneering station with air talent that reaches back into the 70s and 80s.

The show will include performances by Amos Lee, Leo KottkeTodd Park Mohr & Brian Nevin (Big Head Todd & the Monsters), Isaac Slade & Ben Wysocki (the Fray), Bill Nershi and members of the String Cheese Incident, Drew Emmit & Vince Herman (Leftover Salmon) and the Lumineers.  The house backing band for the show is Chris Daniels & the Kings.  Governor Hickenlooper will be hosting the roast of Chuck Morris.  Dec 3 2018 – The Paramount Theater.

CP S12 EP39 2018

Monday Oct 15 2018 – The week starts off with some pretty fine news.  Rolling Stone France apparently spotlighted 4 Colorado acts – The Lumineers, Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats, Slim Cessna’s Auto Club and A.J. Fullerton – the multi-award winning blues artist originally from the Western Slope.

When you’re recognized internationally along with two of the biggest acts in modern popular music, that says something about how you’re affecting people positively with your music.  WTG A.J.

Something to watch / listen for in S12 EP41 of the show that will air Oct 20-26 … Henderson Goodale and Betsy Mortenson from Sustain Nature & Music stopped by the goat den last week to chat about their organization.

VIDEO PICK OF THE WEEK

Many people who live in our area today may not remember that Jill Sobule grew up in Denver in the 60s and 70s, and attended CU in Boulder.  It was only after she left the area to pursue music professionally that she had a hit in the 90s’ with I Kissed A Girl (no, not the more recent hit by the same name).  Since then, Jill has become known internationally as an exceptional folk artist — though her newest hit may not actually show her in that light.

CP S12 EP34 2018

MONDAY SEPT 10, 2018 –Happy Monday.  As seems to be somewhat normal over the years, we’re in a bit of a lull for new releases right now.  And it’s a great time for a vacation.  So I’m taking one.  I don’t see it as likely that I’ll publish a post next Monday the 17th since I’ll be on the road somewhere between Denver and Zion in Utah.

The biggest news of the week broke on FB over the weekend when Andy Palmer announced an  “indefinite hiatus” from making music to focus on things closer to home – and heart – family and his children.   In the meantime, he’s set to release his newest video, produced by  John Grigsby, for “The Switch” – the lead single from his last album.  The video has already garnered an official invitation to the 2018  Westfield International Film Festival.  Watch for the video here in a couple of weeks.

In his post Andy let us know that “All that is to say that this fool is dialing down gigging in place of opening up to other pursuits. Seems fitting that I’ll wrap up this run on October 20, my wedding day 11 short years ago, at The Walnut Room, a Denver venue I’ve loved since day one and which has always warmly welcomed me in.”

At Bohemian Foundation, our focus is on building community …by coming together to create and enjoy music.

VIDEO PICK OF THE WEEK

Many folks today don’t know, or don’t remember, that acclaimed FOLK (yes, I said folk) artist Jill Sobule is originally from Denver, and that her mom still lives and works here.  I’m pretty stoked to have new music from Jill I’m sharing this week – from a video she released in June off her upcoming new album Nostalgia Kills.  The new single however is not “folky” at all, but leans with a snap-crackle-pop of the sort we would have expected following her 1995 self-titled sophomore release that produced her biggest hit, I Kissed A Girl.

MONDAY MORNING MUSIC MEETING

What you’ll find below are new songs on the show this week … listen  and let me know which ones you think I should keep in the Colorado Playlist, and which I should delete.

NOTE:  In order to be included in the MMMM poll, the band/artist must have an embeddable file on Soundcloud, BandCamp, Reverbnation or YouTube.
