VIDEO PICK OF THE WEEK

Every day I discover talent from here in Colorado.  Courtney Hartman is the latest.  Per her FB page: “Acoustic Guitar Magazine recognizes her as a “distinctive guitar stylist… and a songwriter that delights and disturbs.” Her early years were spent playing folk and bluegrass with her siblings at festivals around the country. After leaving Colorado for the Northeast, Courtney joined up with folk quintet, Della Mae, touring internationally for seven years, releasing three records and garnering a GRAMMY nomination.”  She’s now back in Colorado and I look forward to seeing her perform regionally.

VIDEO PICK OF THE WEEK

From Faceman; “In typical FaceMan fashion this is a super cool collaborative video and song that was part of the Fort Collins 53:14 film festival. We got paired with a random filmmaker and had 53 hours and 14 minutes to do a video.  We also recorded at Mighty Fine Productions with Klaus Larson (who recently just recorded the new Violent Femmes record)!”

CP S13 EP18 2019

Monday April 29, 2019

Happy post FoCOMX 2019.  Congratulations to the entire organization for an 11th anniversary.  I’ve performed with my band for 4 years now, in four different rooms.  Before that I did sound for many years in various venues.  As the event has grown so has the complexity of putting it all together.

The staff and volunteers, the venues and production people  have created a seamless music experience for the entire region, regardless of age, regardless of genre, or if an act is original, a tribute or a cover band.  It really is a remarkable achievement and a testament to the love of live music in our state.

Congratulations to Cody Qualls from Face Vocal Band for his nomination for Male Vocalist of the Year for the 2019 A Cappella Music Awards!
