CP S13 EP03 2019

Monday Jan 14, 2019 – As I sat down this morning to put the finishing touches on this blogpost, I came across a Facebook post from G. Brown’s Colorado Music Experience.

“On this date in 1975, Joe Walsh earned a gold record for his third solo studio album, “So What.” Standout tracks included a remake of the Barnstorm track “Turn to Stone” and the haunting “Song For Emma,” written for Walsh’s daughter who had been killed in a car accident the previous year in Colorado. https://colomusic.org/profile/joe-walsh-barnstorm/

G. Brown is one of Colorado music’s living legacies.  His book outlining music history, and his newest endeavor – Colorado Music Experience – serve as prime research tools for my show.

Every week I post up the MMMM (Monday Morning Music Meeting).  This is your chance to let me know what you think of the new songs I played on the show.  I do hope you’re enjoying this feature, and will continue to make your vote known, to KEEP or DELETE.

VIDEO PICK OF THE WEEK

WhiteWater Ramble founder Patrick Sites has always found a way to continue the band’s rocky-grass groove with strong voices up front – whether former lead singer Patrick Latella or current lead vocalist/guitarist, Damon Wood.  Damon’s background includes several years as the guitarist in soul/funk legend James Brown’s band.  Here, Damon brings a true Colorado country rock voice to a summer time “drinking song” jam.

CP S13 EP02 2019

Monday Jan 07, 2019 – First Monday in the new year.  Got swamped with new music over the holidays.  One track that was not available for embed or playlisting on YouTube is the new cut from Reed Foehl, cowritten with Gregory Alan Isakov.

Reed was an established Colorado musician through the 90s and into the 21st century, before moving back to New England and then onto Nashville a few years ago.  For awhile he lived at Gregory Alan Isakov’s farm/recording studio outside of Boulder.  His long time Colorado fans can expect his new album, Lucky Enough, to hit on Feb 1.  Glide Magazine premiered the song “American Miles” in December.

One bit of news = KJAC 105.5 The Colorado Sound is now archiving the show.  So, if you miss hearing the show on the radio, you can now stream it weekly.  I’m told the show will go up on Mondays.

CP S13 EP01 2019 – BEST OF 2018

Monday Dec 31, 2018 – HAPPY NEW YEAR.  I was so excited for this year’s BEST OF I jumped the gun a week in labeling the show.  I also got confused.  The show originated in 2006, making 2019 the 14th season of the show.  So I’m a year behind that way. This is what you get when you’re “old.”  CRS syndrome. Oh well.

Thank you to KRFC (Fort Colllins), KDNK (Carbondale), KOTO (Telluride), KSUT (Ignacio), KLZR (Westcliffe), KCMJ (Colorado Springs), KAFM (Grand Junction), KOYC (Pueblo), KHEN (Salida), KZYR (Vail), and KJAC (Greeley) for airing the Colorado Playlist.  Because of them, the show is heard on 24FM frequencies around the state, 52 hours a week.  There’s a “letter of intent” for another mountain town station to pick up the show before April.

Below you’ll find the playlist for The Best of 2018.  Twenty-five titles made the cut, counting the overall TOP 10 and the TOP 10 Fan/Listener Poll selections and TOP 5 Fan/Listener Videos of 2018 selections.   It was an amazing year.  Follow the links to see this year’s rankings and to listen to the LP/EP.
