ABOUT THE CHARTS

Every Sunday I survey over a dozen community/public and college stations, which includes spins on the Colorado Playlist.

The monthly survey period is from the first week ending with a Sunday, through the last week ending with a Saturday. Yearly spins are pulled and calculated from December through the next November.

The annual new release year begins in November, although there are some released in October that make the cut. I track all titles for a full calendar year from the official date of release.

Titles are linked to its respective YouTube page. Don’t forget to visit Chris K’s Colorado Playlist Channel for the largest collection of Colorado music, going back over a decade.

Spin data pulled from the Colorado Playlist, 105.5 The Colorado Sound, Indie 102.3, 88.9 KRFC and ten other stations that use playlist generator Spinitron, offering search functions for artists to track airplay around the country.

MONDAY JULY 03 – HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY. Or, in my case, HAPPY RETIREMENT DAY (weekend). I’m on the road for the July 4th weekend, so the charts will be late. I’ll get them done this week.

I started my radio career in Greeley in Aug 1978 on KFKA/KFKZ (Greeley). On Friday, June 30, I officially performed my last and final on air shift at 105.5 The Colorado Sound, KJAC (Greeley) – the Colorado Playlist will continue to be heard at 6AM Saturday and 6PM Sunday.

The Colorado Playlist began life as the Colorado Sound in April 2006 on KRFC (Fort Collins). I’ve got a few years left before the show hits its 20th Anniversary, at which time I’ll likely turn over the mic to someone who can keep it going another twenty years (hopeful).

MONDAY JUNE 26, 2023 – I just finished my final weekend as a regular show host on 105.5 The Colorado Sound, as we get set to move off the Front Range after 45 years. The Colorado Playlist will continue in its usual times – 6AM on Saturday and 6PM on Sunday. Claire and I are looking to our move to the western slope in the coming weeks.

HOW THE CP GOT ITS NAME: January 2016, the principles at KJAC (Greeley) approached me about selling the name of my show, The Colorado Sound. While I was wracking my brain for a new name, my adopted step-daughter said, “Daddy, we call those playlists now.” ‘Nuff said kid. The Colorado Playlist was born in January 2016. I started working for the Colorado Sound in February 2016. It’s been a great seven and a half years.
