Picture by Chris K. from our most recent trip to Ouray.

Monday NOV 08, 2021 – When it’s early November and 75 degrees and sunny on a Sunday, that’s a top down drive kinda day. We took a long drive down through Garden of the Gods and up into the foothill, where we wound up at the Bucksnort Saloon in Pine for a set of live music. Not sure I’ll see it again in 2021.

So, call it 2022. At least for new releases. I spent part of the weekend filtering the “best” of Colorado as aired at the thirteen stations I survey weekly. Watch for the annual listener poll where you can lend your voice to the stations around the state.

I’m also not sure anything is going to bump Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats, The Lumineers and The Velveteers from the top of the spins charts until next year. It’s the #4 and #5 spots where we’re likely to see a weekly contest. Animal Electricity and Kiltro are trending high enough in airplay to hold onto the fourth and fifth chart position for another couple of weeks.

CP S15:40 2021

Monday Oct 04, 2021 – We’re about a month away from the start of the 2022 new release year. What are some of your favorite songs so far since last November? What are some of your favorite full length LPs or EPs? Comment to let me know.

You can find 100 of the TOP currents at CP 2021 on Spotify. That playlist changes somewhat regularly, but will lock down on or about November 4th.

Chris Daniels & Hazel Miller had a great run in the TOP 5 the past several weeks and are sure to find themselves among the TOP 20 for year’s end based on spins around the state.

The Lumineers new album won’t officially be released until early in 2022, but the new single is receiving copious amounts of airplay at both Indie 102.3 and 105.5 The Colorado Sound, landing them at #1 this week.

Expect Kiltro to reign the TOP 5 for November, along with the Lumineers, Nathaniel Rateliff & the Nightsweats and the Velveteers, both of whom have new albums dropping in October and November respectively. Nightmare Daydream from the Velveteers will drop on Oct 8.

Not all charts are the same. The TOP 5 Colorado album spins at Roots Music Report looks a lot different than the TOP 5 here, where the Night Hawks have run up to the #1 spot and Chris Daniels & Hazel Miller fall to #5 .. Reverend Freakchild, Leftover Salmon and Eddie Turner round out their TOP 5 this week.
