Colorado Playlist S11 EP30

WOW … another year of Bohemian Nights at New West Fest is over.  If you attended, I hope you discovered a new band to love – and enjoyed our out of state guests – Cake, Brandi Carlile and Todd Snider.

New music shares this week from Francis and the Wolf and from Strange Americans …

This coming Saturday, Aug 19, I’ll be hosting the Wellington Main Street Concert Series with Hey, Lady!, the wonderful B-52s tribute band.

COLORADO PLAYLIST – S11 EP29

It’s not Monday morning.  It’s actually Monday evening, as I’m just now getting caught up from a long weekend of music events.  Thanks to everyone who came out to the 10th Annual Carbon Valley Music & Spirits Festival and to the 11th Anniversary of the Colorado Playlist at the Mishawaka Amphitheatre, our primary sponsor of the show.

Despite the rain both days, we all had plenty of fun.  Even though Cracker got rained out, big hugs to Anita at Oskar Blues Homemade Liquids and Solids in Longmont for allowing us to bring Cracker over for a late night set.

I still have appearances this summer; so I do hope you’ll come out and catch some great live Colorado music.

  • Aug 11-13 = I’ll be on the Mountain Ave main stage at Bohemian Nights at New West Fest, that will feature Leftover Salmon on Friday night.  Coincidentally, Cracker, with whom Leftover Salmon recorded “Oh, Cracker, Where Art Thou” several years ago will be on the Library Park Stage at the same time.
  • Aug 19 = Wellington Downtown Concert Series w/Hey Lady the wonderful B52s tribute band.

Sept 9 = GOATZ! and Kerry Pastine & the Crime Scene at Avogadro’s Number in Fort Collins

Sept 10 = GOATZ! at Oskar Blues Original Grill and Brew in Lyons

Big news and rumors of big news have been making the rounds here recently.  First of all, it is true that Colorado native and original member of Poco, Rusty Young, who played in Boenzee Cryque in the 60s has a new solo record coming out.  For many years he’s fronted the name Poco – and I say fronted because the other original members, including Richie Furay have long distanced themselves.  At any rate, the album is due out September 18.

In the rumor column — is Paper Bird about to fly apart? Hmmmm… rumors have been swirling for a few weeks, and even Paper Bird member Paul DeHaven has stepped out with a new solo effort.  While I have not confirmed the rumor, my sources are indeed extremely reliable.  I included the new Paul DeHaven single in this week’s show.

Colorado Playlist – S11 EP27

Wolford Mountain – 6:40AM Saturday July 22

I went fishing this weekend.  I was very lucky – not with fishing – but with DEBUTs this week.

A.J. Fullerton and Face Vocal Band both shared new cuts that are not yet available generally.   Face Vocal Band will be appearing at the Carbon Valley Music & Spirits Festival in Dacono on August 5 in direct support of Cracker, and will be headlining Red Rocks on August 6 with Dearling.

The new album from the critically praised bluesman A.J. Fullerton will be out August 24.

This week’s MMMM has three new cuts from Dave & the Gin Mill Gypsies, Halden Wofford & the Hi*Beams, and the Garrett Sayers Trio.  Make sure to listen and vote, pls.

I took NO music with me onto the water, nor did I play music at my campsite.  The only time I listened to music was in the car, during all 308 miles of the trip.  One thing that consistently stood out was the new EP from the Still Tide, which is sure to be among my favorites of 2017.

BTW .. the fishing at both Wolford Mountain Reservoir (outside of Kremmling), and Willow Creek Reservoir (outside of Grandy) was “EH.”  But – driving with the top down in the mountains (exceeding the speed limit of course) – listening to music – PRICELESS!
