Colorado Playlist S10 EP44 NOV 2016

Happy POST turkey hangover.  I hope you spent the long weekend enjoying some live local music – wish I could have made it to the Leftover Salmon shows in Denver <smh>.  Being IN the business, means you never really get to go out and ENJOY some of the shows I’d really like to attend LOL.  Such is life in my world.

Thanks to everyone for stepping up last week and crushing the stats! WOW …  By far the biggest stats winner was The Prairie Scholars, but overall every track was voted significantly as a KEEP IT … Blowing up the stats that way over the holiday week as fantastic!

Much love to everyone .. this week’s MMMM (Monday Morning Music Meeting) includes tracks from Whiskey Blanket (who I technically debuted here last week), Chimney Choir, the 5 and Dimer’s, and local blues-rocker Michael Hornbuckle.  VOTE AWAY …

MONDAY MORNING MUSIC MEETING

I conceived of this idea as a way for you to discover some of the new music I played on the show, and to give you the chance to let me know which of the tracks you like, and think I should keep in rotation.  I get a lot of feedback from fans about what’s liked .. and what isn’t.

In order to be included in the MMMM poll, the band/artist must have an embeddable file available on SoundCloud, BandCamp (my favorite), Reverbnation or YouTube.

It’s not a competition.  It’s just a gauge of how well you like the songs I added this week.

What a weekend!  The band spent over 12 hours in the studio (Mighty Fine Productions) this weekend working on the debut of my first EP “Sweet Inspiration,” in memory to Miss Pattie (RIP).  I’m hopeful we’ll get it done for a cd release show on Jan 20 and 27 2017.

Spending the weekend in the studio, recording for what really amounts to the first time with a full band, has given me a deeper sense of appreciation for how much work goes into records that are far denser and more layered than a single country-rock-folk release.  Bravo to those who go in and lay out some of the best of the best …

There’s an excellent article in BIZWEST this week about the Bohemian Foundation’s Music District in Fort Collins that outlines the work that folks like Tom Sharf, Bryce Merrill and Jesse Elliott have undertaken .. check it out here.

MMMM (Monday Morning Music Meeting) = The Patient Zeroes, The Prairie Scholars, The Savage Hearts, The John Weeks Band, 888, B Suite, The String Cheese Incident.  **NOTE = 888 is not a new song.  It’s an established national level hit, but the first time I’ve played it on the CP.  Looking to see what you think of it.  Vote KEEP IT or DELETE IT below.

Colorado Playlist S10 EP42 NOV 2016

Good Monday morning! The Broncos won in a WILD fashion, and the sun is shining.  And in this week’s MMMM (Monday Morning Music Meeting) we have music to KEEP or DELETE from new scene honky-tonkers 5 & Dimer’s, indie-alt rock from Homebody, award winning r&b/dance from SuCh and blues from the Catfish Kray Band with Lady Larea Edwards.

Last week’s titles didn’t generate much in the way of interest it seems – with one of the lowest overall vote totals of the past couple of months.  I don’t know if we were all just burnt out from the elections or not, but I’m hoping you decide to re-engage this week.  With that said, Faceman’s new single Heavy Heart was the crowd favorite generating 92% KEEP IT votes … the rest barely got out of the gate last week.

Dave Herrera was MIA last week.  So no Trusted Ear Scene Report … follow Dave at www.thetrustedear.com

VIDEO PICK OF THE WEEK Prairie Scholars Minivan …Prairie Scholars are Andy and Jess Eppler – a husband and wife team from Longmont by way of the same Texas school that gave us Bonnie & Taylor Sims of Bonnie & the Clydes fame regionally. Several regional acts have covered songs written by Andy and Jess.  This one was written as part of a crowd funding campaign for a touring minivan.

oskar-blues-no backgroundCAN you believe this funky little brewpub is ready to celebrate 14 years of Dale’s Pale Ale in a can?  Lyons, CO, the birthplace of the CANNED BEER APOCALYPSE is celebrating our against-the-grain history and small town vibe that has grown nationwide the only way we know how – with Lyons brewed specialty beers, our Cajun inspired food, and locally grown music.

Our Lyons brew crew have teamed up with Interstate Stash Express to roll out a new specialty beer, Interstate “Smash” (Single Malt And Single Hop) Express, for the party.  Naturally, all your favorite beers will be flowing in force back where it all began, at Oskar Blues Grill & Brew in Lyons.  Yer not going to want to miss a moment of this one, and tickets are limited – here are the deets:
