CP S13 EP05 2019

Monday Jan 28, 2019 – January has been a pretty explosive month for new music here at the  Colorado Playlist.

New releases over the past five weeks from the Motet, Daniel Rodriquez, Gasoline Lollipops, Anthony Ruptak and funk/hip-hop newcomers E.M.K. set the stage nicely for 2019.

There are new releases currently in the queue to be played in upcoming episodes of the show from Bonnie & the Clydes, Wendy Woo, newcomers Lucy Daydream, SW CO Americana singer/songwriter Thom Chacon and Americana country from Escape Gold, another recent discovery.

Also coming up in a near future episode of the show, an interview with Eddie Roberts (New Mastersounds) about his new Denver record label Color Red, and his non-profit work.

New music this week in the MMMM below from the String Cheese Incident, the Motet and Slow Caves.  I was way out in front of the new releases played in the first hour of the show; none of the acts have digital set up yet so they won’t show up in the YouTube or Spotify playlists either.

I updated the Colorado Playlist TV page, and YouTube playlist.

ALSO — don’t forget.  If you’d like to stream the show, it’s available weekly at www.coloradosound.org/

CP S13 EP03 2019

Monday Jan 14, 2019 – As I sat down this morning to put the finishing touches on this blogpost, I came across a Facebook post from G. Brown’s Colorado Music Experience.

“On this date in 1975, Joe Walsh earned a gold record for his third solo studio album, “So What.” Standout tracks included a remake of the Barnstorm track “Turn to Stone” and the haunting “Song For Emma,” written for Walsh’s daughter who had been killed in a car accident the previous year in Colorado. https://colomusic.org/profile/joe-walsh-barnstorm/

G. Brown is one of Colorado music’s living legacies.  His book outlining music history, and his newest endeavor – Colorado Music Experience – serve as prime research tools for my show.

Every week I post up the MMMM (Monday Morning Music Meeting).  This is your chance to let me know what you think of the new songs I played on the show.  I do hope you’re enjoying this feature, and will continue to make your vote known, to KEEP or DELETE.

VIDEO PICK OF THE WEEK

WhiteWater Ramble founder Patrick Sites has always found a way to continue the band’s rocky-grass groove with strong voices up front – whether former lead singer Patrick Latella or current lead vocalist/guitarist, Damon Wood.  Damon’s background includes several years as the guitarist in soul/funk legend James Brown’s band.  Here, Damon brings a true Colorado country rock voice to a summer time “drinking song” jam.

HAPPY VETERANS DAY
NEVER FORGET

As we approach the midway point of November, it seems that site traffic has hit a hard roadblock of sorts. I hope you’ll remember to stop by and check out the new music in the MMMM and vote to KEEP or DELETE.

As this is the time of the year to give thanks – I cannot give enough to the stations and listeners who make this show possible.  I would love to meet you … and with that I’ll be appearing with my long time musical partner Chris Jackowski and local teenage fiddle phenom Jackson Earles at Red Truck Beer Company in Fort Collins on NOV 17, and with my full electric band lineup at Oskar Blues Homemade Liquids and Solids in Longmont on NOV 24.  I hope you can come by so I can thank you in person for your support.

NEW this week YouTube Colorado Playlist of all the tracks from this week’s episode .. which includes new MMMM tracks from Foxfeather, AMZYKing Eddie, AMZY, Kid Reverie, Joe Johnson, and Tnertle.

Make sure you follow me on Spotify to find out what new artists I might be checking out.  This week’s Spotify playlist is short some fine tracks from SUCH, Angie Stevens & the Beautiful Wreck, Zephyr and Alpha Centauri

I found all of this week’s tracks on YouTube – the first CP YouTube weekly playlists.  Pls let me know what you think.

VIDEO PICK OF THE WEEK

Speaking of Zephyr — very very happy that they along with original lead guitarist Tommy Bolin will be inducted into the Colorado Music Hall of Fame in 2019.

Also being inducted is the truly legendary Freddie-Henchi Band.  Both Zephyr and the Freddi-Henchi Band were signed early on their careers in the late 60s, but wound up being more regionally famous as time went on;   Zephyr until Candy’s death in 1984, and the FHB until the mid to late 80s when various life issues (drugs, booze, etc) decimated the band.

FHB would re-emerge in the mid 90s for a brief run.  Freddi “Love” Gowdy appears with Chris Daniels & the Kings featuring Freddi Gowdy today.
