CP S15 EP06 2021

FEB 08 2021 –We’re three months, 1/4 of a year, into the new release year that began in November and already I’m seeing a record number of new releases from here in Colorado.  It may be the result of COVID isolation, or simply that there are more ways to produce new records.

I can say I’m fitting new tracks into show outlines four weeks in advance from now.  This week I managed to get in new music from David William’s Trickster Carousel, Isadora Eden, Zembu, House Painter Music, and The Barlow.

The big news this past week is that venues will be able to open to 50% capacity, depending on social distancing criteria.

Westword outlined the specifics: “At indoor unseated events, venues can host up to 50 percent capacity — but no more than fifty or a hundred people, depending on the size of the space and using the state’s Social Distancing Space Calculator.

Indoor seated events can have up to a hundred people or 50 percent capacity — whichever is smaller. Outdoor events can have up to 175 people or 50 percent capacity — again, whichever is smaller. Venues operating as indoor restaurants can have 50 percent capacity or fifty people (or even up to 150, based on the state’s calculator).”

The verdict is still out on whether or not we’ll see any type of large outdoor gatherings this season.  Major events such as Bohemian Nights at New West Fest in Fort Collins, the Greeley Blues Jam and Greeley Stampede have yet to announce one way or another how they will proceed.

Even with more people being allowed into our smaller venues many of our local musicians are still struggling.  Our non-profit, Rocky Mountain Music Relief receives two or three requests a week for help.

Are you a working musician in Colorado, or a soundperson, stage hand, etc employed pre-COVID but seriously struggling to pay for rent, utilities or food?

Rocky Mountain Music Relief can’t meet all your needs, but we can offer some help. There’s an application at the bottom of the page.

The Colorado Playlist is provided to member stations at no cost.  Your support is deeply appreciated.  Your support will help to keep the program on the air.

Middle Class Rock Star is a podcast hosted by  Andy Sydow.  Every week or so I feature a 7 to 8 minute segment featuring  a conversation Andy has with some of our scene’s top music makers and industry personalities.  This week’s guest is Antonio Lopez.

CP S12 EP33 2018

MONDAY SEPT 3, 2018 – Happy Labor Day.  We’re getting pretty close to the end of the 2018 release year, which runs November 2017 through Oct 2018.  So we have about three months until I begin tabulating your votes for the Best of show at the end of the year and the Fan Poll for the year.  By the time we get to the end of the “new model” year, I will have shared nearly 300 new tracks with you from here in Colorado.

Contenders for this year’s BEST OF include new and or upcoming new titles from mainstays and obvious contenders such as DeVotchka, Gregory Alan Isakov and Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats as well as up and comers  like Oxeye Daisey and Gingerbomb.  Your votes matter, so don’t forget to let me know whether to KEEP or DELETE in the MMMM below.

Debuts this week include new and/or upcoming new releases from alt-rockers Augustus and CITRA – and Americana/alt-country from Matt Rouch & the Noise Upstairs.  There’s also a new cut from the previously debuted David Starr albumSouth and West.”

At Bohemian Foundation, our focus is on building community …by coming together to create and enjoy music.

VIDEO PICK OF THE WEEK

NEW ARTIST ALERT:  well, she’s not exactly a new artist, but she is relatively new to Colorado.  Turns out award winning NYC vagabond musician/painter Elli Perry has at least temporarily settled down in Fort Collins.  The music video for her song “Burn The River Down” won the award for Best Sound at the New York Independent Film Festival in May.  She’s been in Fort Collins since February according to sources there, and it’s rumored she may be interested in staying a while… as in set down some roots in our Colorado music scene.

NEW TIMES UPDATE

  • 88.9FM KRFC Fort Collins has moved the show from Saturday night at 8PM to Thursday mornings from 6-8AM.
  • KSUT Ignacio/Durango has added HR1 of the show and moved the time from 7PM Saturday nights to 10PM-12AM Saturday nights

MONDAY MORNING MUSIC MEETING

What you’ll find below are new songs on the show this week … listen  and let me know which ones you think I should keep in the Colorado Playlist, and which I should delete.

NOTE:  In order to be included in the MMMM poll, the band/artist must have an embeddable file on Soundcloud, BandCamp, Reverbnation or YouTube.
