#COMUSIC TOP 30 AUGUST 2026

Colorado music deserves to be celebrated. In 2027, that celebration could reach the State Capitol with a resolution recognizing Colorado Musician Day.

What a way to end a month — and begin another! Once again, you set a record for the most views in a month over the past decade. Thank you.

During the 18th Annual Dacono Music & Spirits Festival, I met a wonderful person from the Colorado State Senate. And you know me… get me talking about Colorado music and musicians and I get a little excited. We connected and brainstormed the idea of the Colorado State Senate passing a resolution honoring Colorado musicians.

WELL… turns out, it wasn’t such a crazy idea after all. I learned today that Senator Janice Rich is interested in introducing a resolution recognizing Colorado Musician Day during the 2027 legislative session.

How cool is THAT?!

The #COMUSIC TOP 30 and weekly HOT SPINS track Colorado music aired specifically on Colorado non-commercial radio. Other charts include terrestrial and streaming activity outside the state; this is the only chart focused exclusively on in-state radio airplay.

Every week, I survey airplay from seventeen Colorado community, public and college radio stations, including Colorado Playlist spins. Monthly charts cover the first full survey week ending on Saturday through the final Saturday of the month, with titles tracked for twelve months beginning with the release of the first single from an album or EP.

The charts reflect what those seventeen Colorado stations actually play. That means some genres are represented more heavily than others: Americana, indie and roots music generally receive considerably more non-commercial airplay than metal or rap, while EDM receives limited but growing exposure.

The #COMUSIC TOP 30 and HOT SPINS reflect measurable Colorado radio airplay — nothing more, nothing less.

KAFMKBUTKDNKKDURKFFRKLZRKOTOKSJDKSUTKRFCKRZAKUVOKVCU, and KVNF are surveyed via Spinitron, offering search functions for artists to track airplay on over three hundred stations and programs around the country.

KGNU Boulder, Indie 102.3 and 105.5 The Colorado Sound data is pulled from their websites, or emailed to me each week.

LP = album (5 or more songs)
EP = extended play (3-5 songs)
SP = single play (1-2 songs)
(D) = debut of SP (single), EP or LP release in the TOP 30
(R) = return to the TOP 30 of SP, EP or LP release

The Colorado Playlist has been my passion for 20 years. Now retired, the monthly costs of producing the show stretch my limited retirement income — but I’d like to keep it going for another couple of years.

The show airs statewide on 11 primary stations across 30 FM/LPFM frequencies and is provided at no cost to Colorado community radio stations.

If you’d like to help keep it going, your support is sincerely appreciated. Donations via Venmo at chrisk-2 are preferred, or use the form below. Thank you — sincerely. – chrisk

CP S20 EP31 2026 MONDAY MORNING MUSIC MEETING

AIRDATES: AUG 15-21 2026
CUT IT OR KEEP IT: Andy Sydow, Kayla Marque, The Burroughs, Marfa
THIS WEEK ON YOUTUBE: Captured Live – The Crooked Rugs, Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats, The Velveteers, 16 Horsepower, Wovenhand, Cary Morin & Ghost Dog

It’s been so hot this summer, we took in a few days up in the Walden area, and drove up to Cameron pass… the fishing was slow, but it was MUCH cooler, and the scenery was great. The summer heat took its toll on the water … with large amounts of weeds and algae in nearly all the lakes I visited this past month, along with lower water levels.

Have you checked out COLORADO 2026 on SPOTIFY or YOUTUBE? 100 songs / 100 artists and bands. When I add something, something gets cut to cap the playlist at 100. Not everything there makes the show, so check it out. Some will make the annual COLORADO PLAYLIST FAN & LISTENER POLL later in NOV/DEC. New adds this week from Keenan TreVon with DNA Picasso, Gold Leader, Dylirium, Graveyard Choir, Moon Hammer.

The Monday Morning Music Meeting happens courtesy of Starr’s Guitars in Cedaredge, serving the western slope music community since 1998.

Every year I debut approximately two hundred new current-year releases. I’m currently tracking 285 current year releases for the weekly HOT SPINS REPORT.

Every week I have to make decisions about what to keep to play again and what to archive. This is where you come in.

Results enter into determining which cuts stay in the library and which cuts might eventually make it to the annual Colorado Playlist Fan & Listener Poll and the “some of the best of the year” show.

This show has been my passion for 20 years. Over the years it has been mostly self-funded, with some financial help from  Starr’s Guitars and a few others here and there. It was enough to cover the cost of operations, but nothing more. Since retiring from full time work, the cost of the show has had a significant impact on my income.

The Colorado Playlist  is the only program showcasing Colorado music statewide, broadcast by 12 stations covering 30 FM/LPFM frequencies. I make this show available at NO COST to community radio stations in our state. I’d like to keep it going for another couple of years.

Please make donations via Venmo at  chrisk-2  (preferred) or use the form below (they take a cut). Thank you, sincerely – chrisk

Every week, I track airplay on 16 Colorado community and public radio stations. What gets played on terrestrial radio, however, doesn’t necessarily reflect what attracts listeners on streaming platforms. These two TOP 10 lists illustrate the difference—and help explain why the charts have so little overlap.

Part of that difference lies in how they’re compiled. COLORADO 2026 is a song-based playlist, while the HOT SPINS REPORT combines the airplay received by all tracks from a release—whether it’s a single, EP or album.

COLORADO 2026 is also limited to 100 songs from 100 Colorado artists and bands. Whenever I add new music, I remove an equal number of songs to keep that one-artist, one-song format intact. As a result, each artist has only one title contributing to the playlist.

The HOT SPINS REPORT casts a much wider net. I’m currently tracking 280 releases that have received airplay on reporting stations this year. In any given month, more than 100 releases may be aired across the stations surveyed. An album may also generate spins from several different tracks, reflecting sustained support for the entire release rather than the popularity of one song.

The musical differences are just as revealing. Streaming listeners are responding strongly to nationally established Colorado artists and electronic, pop and alternative acts such as OneRepublic, ILLENIUM, Said the Sky, CloZee, TX2 and The Fray. Colorado’s community and public stations lean more heavily toward roots-oriented music—Americana, bluegrass, folk, jam and independent rock.

Here are the current TOP 10 lists for each.
