Kyle Donovan – Then and Now

Kyle Donovan is a rare and beautiful talent … with a voice that lifts, he sings notes that feel like fire flies on a moist summer evening alongside a deep and slow moving river … this isn’t mundane … it’s invigorating. Few voices are as pure and unwavering in tone and pitch, or as sweet and sensitive in emotion.

Kyle’s quietly expressive stories of life are reminiscent of the best storytellers … none less than Paul Simon, Kyle’s strongest and most obvious muse. “Then and Now” is a love album – the best kind; it’s inspirational. That the album is self produced, self recorded, self mixed and mastered is testament to Kyle’s unrelenting faith and courage in his immense talent. It simply sounds fabulous.

This is an album for the end of the night – at the quietest possible time of day, and mind and body. It ends with the sweetest lullaby, “No Matter the Distance,” a “honey dipped melody” to the love of his parents, knowing “we will always be here, in your heart.”

Kyle spent three years engineering what really is a masterpiece of a solo debut .. and a strong contender for ALBUM of the YEAR on the Colorado Playlist.

That said, there are only 9 weeks left in the new release year, for consideration as one of the best of 2019. 2020 starts in November. Your vote in the MMMM below will matter, so please let me know what you think about the new music shares every week.

Another week, another mistake. As I was listening to hour 2 of the show last night, I noticed I called the new Lumineers‘ EP “Gloria Speaks.” While appropro I suppose, the actual title is “Gloria Sparks,” not to be confused with their other new EP release called “Junior Sparks.”

MONDAY AUG 19 2019 – Busy weekend, and now it’s the first day of class in the Music Industry Studies Program at UCD. And, I’m rushing to get things done in time for class today (yes, I teach LOL, I think)

A NOTE: in this week’s episode I was privileged to share the premier of a new cut from Thunder & Rain, who I inadvertently called Thunder & Lightning in the intro to the song. My apologizes to the band, and a deep thanks for being able to share the new track . NOT AVAILABLE to stream in any manner – sorry. New album due out in December.

Thanks to Leslie Tom, The Devil’s Share, Sugar Britches, Jackie & the Racket and the members of my band GOATZ! – all of whom absolutely played killer sets at the 2019 Well-O-Rama on Saturday, in Wellington. For a first year event, I was pretty happy with the turnout. Cya next year. #fingerscrossed

No more outdoor festivals for me this season. That’s it for 2019.
