#COMUSIC TOP 20 MAY + Q2 + 2023

Palisade vineyard with Mount Garfield May 2023, courtesy of Clear Vistas Photography.

We are now HALF WAY through 2023! WOW. Below you’ll find the TOP 20 for the year, so far, with six months to go.

Besides tracking and charting weekly, monthly and yearly spins, I’ve also been tracking quarterly this year.

Two hundred four LP, EP or SP (single) current year titles (Jun 22 to May 23) received at least one spin in Q1 (Dec-Feb) and Q2 (Mar-May).

The only album to land in the TOP 5 of Q1 and Q2 is EUFORQUESTRA – While We Still Got Time LP – that fell from #1 Q1 to #5 Q2. The release date is Jun-22, so it will no longer be tracked after this month. Don’t be surprised when you see it stick around in the TOP 20 this year, on the basis of Q1 and Q2 spins.

I do expect to see KILTRO – Underbelly, LEFTOVER SALMON  Grass Roots and NATHANIEL RATELIFF & THE NIGHT SWEATS – Buy My Round make their way into the TOP FIVE Q3.

HOW I DO IT

Every Sunday I survey over a dozen community/public and college stations, which includes spins on the Colorado playlist (aired on eleven stations).

The monthly survey period is from the first week ending with a SATURDAY (May 6), through the last week ending with a SUNDAY (May 28).

Yearly spins are pulled and calculated from December (2022) through the next November (2023).

The annual new release year begins in November, although there are some released earlier that make the cut.

Titles are tracked for a full calendar year from the official date of release, regardless of when I begin tracking it.

*ARTIST/BAND = expat. No longer lives in Colorado and/or is tied to Colorado in some meaningful way; i.e. *The Wood Brothers, *Vince Herman
