CP S13 EP15 2019

Monday April 8, 2019

When I started doing this show 13 years ago this weekend, I had already been booking bands and or consulting on Colorado talent for a handful of years.  It was because of those bands, bands such as Yo, Flaco!, Love.45, Slim Cessna’s Auto Club, DeVotchKa and countless others, that I thought I was seeing something very special in our state.

When the Fray hit big with How to Save A Life in 2005, it wasn’t the first time a Colorado band hit big, but it was by far the biggest a Colorado band had ever hit.  By 2015, the single How to Save A Life, became the 4th best-selling song in digital music history.  OneRepublic came along and destroyed those records with Apologize in 2007 and Counting Stars in 2014, a song that is still by far the biggest hit in Colorado Music History.

I look forward to seeing that lies ahead for us as our scene continues to explode nationally, and internationally.  One thing to look forward to this is the BEST OF THE DECADE … I’ll start working on that here soon.  In the meantime, I hope you’ll check out this week’s MMMM and vote to either KEEP or DELETE the songs from the Colorado Playlist.

Well, I have no April Fools bombs to drop (or mics for that matter).  And, there are only three new songs in the MMMM for you to vote on this week.  Enjoy.  Last week was spring break, even for us professor goat types.  Happy spring.

The Colorado Playlist is funded partly by the sponsors on this page along with whatever tips I get from you via the funding and sponsorship page.  Other funding comes from whatever money I can personally contribute – so if you’re inclined, and you like the debut, I’d be grateful if you’d download for whatever amount you’d like.  And thank you.

CP S13 EP13 2019

Monday March 25, 2019

WOW! It’s going to be pushing 75 degrees on Wednesday … ok, I got that out of my system.  I drive a convertible.  I need the sun (and copious amounts of SPF 100 sunscreen).

Besides producing and hosting the Colorado Playlist, I also front my own project called GOATZ! (appropo, yes?)  Honestly, I’ve struggled over the decision to air my own work on my show.  I don’t know if I will or won’t if for no other reason than there is so much tremendous music hitting the in-box; I keep pushing mine off to the back of the line.  That said, here’s my six song debut, Sweet Inspiration.

Earlier this season I posted that KFFR (Winter Park) will be adding the show to their programming.  Last week I appeared on Steve Skinner’s show to talk about my debut record.  He informed me while on the air that they will be adding the Colorado Playlist, hopefully in April .. or as soon as they move into their new studios.

VIDEO PICK OF THE WEEK

Over the past several years a handful of hip-hop bands from the region have risen to my attention.  Animated Earth rises to my attention on the strength of several members from bands such as Michal Menert, The Pretty Fantastics, Sassfactory, Grim & Darling, Whiskey Blanket, Glitta Kings and Equally Challenged to name a handful, including such notables as Jordan Polovina (MPC, vocals and cello) and Jessa Raskin (vocals, guitar and slide) who last teamed up in Grim & Darling.
