CP S14 EP27 2020

Monday July 13 2020 – I can’t recall a time when I was told I couldn’t play something that had already been released to the public via streaming sites or YouTube.  But that’s exactly what’s happening with some good friends of mine.

Bonnie and Taylor Sims are both Bonnie & the Clydes and a side project called Everybody Loves an Outlaw.  An ELAO song called “I See Red” hit twelve million spins on Spotify. Add in the 2+ million plays on YouTube and you have a verified hit.  BUT … radio cannot play it.  So I cannot play it.  BUT – I can share it.  Here only.  Not on the show.  Not until I’m told I can by the label.  In the meantime, here’s a new video from Bonnie & Taylor doing the hit “solo.”

Another new release is also sitting in my catalog that I can’t play on the radio, but can share here.  “All the Misery Money Can Buy” is the latest from my pals in Gasoline Lollipops.  It’s available wherever you get your music.  And it’s the best thing they’ve done to date.  The new album, recorded in Louisiana, is due out September 11.

CP S14 EP26 2020

Monday July 6 2020 – Happy 4th of July … Live music and fireworks were the activities du jour this weekend.  My social media feeds are stacked with bands and artists talking about shows at local restaurant-bars, house concerts, drive-in concerts, farmer markets and more.  Be safe.  Wear a mask.  Stop the spread.

As I think back over the past decade of posts I’ve written I cannot recall a time when I posted lyrics to a song I debuted.  “Uncertain Times” by Jim Dalton (the Railbenders) with help from long time friend and on-and-of Railbender Jeremy Lawton (Big Head Todd & the Monsters) is the first.

We find ourselves in darker days
Without the light some lose their way
But we cannot be led astray
We know the course that we must stay

Some have helped those in need
And sadly some have shown their greed
This isn’t for the faint of heart
But let it not tear us apart

Uncertain times need certain minds
Uncertain times need certain minds
Uncertain times need certain minds
And these are certainly uncertain times

The sun will soon be coming out
To wash away these clouds of doubt
As long as we don’t lose our way
Then up ahead are brighter days

(chorus)

Sometimes I can’t understand
The actions of my fellow man
But I am holding fast to the plan
Of killing ‘em with kindness when I can

(chorus)

In these “Uncertain Times,” please help Rocky Mountain Music Relief feed musicians.  Donations of $15 or more receive a #COmusic COVID mask as a thank you. Proceeds will benefit food needy musicians and their families. Please make sure to provide your address so we can mail your mask.

VIDEO PICK OF THE WEEK

TOP 40 COLORADO JUNE 2020

There are over 20 FM and LPFM (low power FM) non-commercial public/community and college stations in Colorado.  I’m able to track spins at 14 of those stations that have some kind of searchable online database or use Spinitron.

I tracked 90 releases (LP, EP or Single) for the month of June.  A few were advance singles that I got to share on CP network, or that stations got to share in advance of release dates in July.

Spinitron’s playlist generator was developed to benefit non-commercial public and educational terrestrial radio stations in the US. Record promoters, agents and artists are among those most likely to benefit from Spinitron’s detailed and advanced search function.
