CO Playlist – S12 EP02 2018

Sunday – a snowed in day – NFL playoffs – some hot green tea – and plenty of new Colorado music to get to.

Tragedy once again struck as I lost an entire backup hard drive last week, with no way to recover the data.  The upside is that I had to begin the process of rebuilding a library of music that spans six decades.  This week’s show is filled with “classic cuts” I hadn’t played in a few years now.

On the new music front, new emerging acts Wounded Bird and the Plutinos are featured in this week’s MMMM (Monday Morning Music Meeting).

Wounded Bird is a new project out of Boulder that features former Whiskey Bottles front-person Molly Orlando along with former college pal Scott Warren. Scott relocated to Evergreen from Los Angeles in 2016 where he composed for film & tv projects, most notably the Miramax opening logo music and the score for the Harry Connick Jr. and Willie Nelson film, “Angels Sing.”

Plutinos is a new solo project by Nate Barnes, known locally as one of the original founding members and drummer for hard rock band Rose Hill Drive.  Nate is also well known as a session and professional touring drummer for the likes of Americana maven Mary Chapin Carpenter as well as Ryan Bingham.

CO Playlist – S12 EP01 2018

WOW … 2018 … 12 years on the air this year.  THANK YOU!

There was some really great music out this past week, with new singles from Nathaniel Rateliff & the Nightsweats and Rob Drabkin dropping within a couple of days of each other.

It’s also Rob Drabkin’s birthday Jan 19 … Happy Birthday brother goat!

The new single from Pretty Mouth, “This Poison Loves You,” is the first in a string of singles being released by the band as they are “able to afford it.”

Fort Collins music fans have a lot to be excited for as native son Seth Strickland returns from New Orleans after several years and puts together a new reggae trio with Otis Lande (Euforquestra) and Jonny Jyemo (Jyemo Club) called Green Buddha. Their debut is the single “Venice.

Seth has also teamed up with Subdudes bassist/vocalist Tim Cook, who happens also to be Seth’s godfather.  The duo recently appeared in their debut supporting Ruthie Foster at  Daniel’s Hall/Swallow Hill Music in Denver.
