CP S13 EP42 2019

This week’s MMMM includes the Subdudes, Caitlin Cannon, Liptruce, the Wayne Wilkinson Trio, Brent Cowles, and Chess at Breakfast … KEEP or DELETE?

MONDAY Oct. 28 2019 – A reminder this week of day/time change for the show on 105.5 The Colorado Sound (KJAC).  The show has moved from Sundays at 10AM and 10PM to Saturdays 6AM-8AM.

Speaking of KJAC – if you missed one of the past two week’s of shows, you can stream it here.  You can also stream the show in real time wherever the show is aired. See the stations and times page for that info.

Unbeknownst to over 99% of us, there is an in-state chart, based on what several non-commercial public / community radio station djs are spinning weekly.  It can be located at rootsmusicreport.com/charts/view/album/state/colorado/weekly.  The chart updates every Monday morning.   The Lumineers, Kerry Pastine & the Crime Scene and the Taylor Scott Band hold the top three positions this week.

Happy birthday to Colorado native Kenny Passarelli, who co-wrote the hit “Rocky Mountain Way” with Joe Walsh and who went on to play bass and tour with some of rock’s biggest names, including Elton John, Dan Fogelberg, Stephen Stills and Hall & Oates.  Courtesy of Colorado Music Experience.

MONDAY Oct. 14 2019 – A day doesn’t go buy that I don’t get new music to share with you.  That’s truly one of the most exciting things about our scene – that we have an almost endless supply of great music for every taste.

I scan multiple sources to discover new music for this show.  So a big thanks to every publication and dj in the region that puts Colorado music out there.

As I was going through my video picks for the week, I came across one that intrigued me from AveryJ & The BA that I’d read about in a couple of online reviews.  I can’t play the song behind this week’s video pick, but he did send me others he thinks might work.

Expect a big announcement next Monday, Oct 21.

At Bohemian Foundation, our focus is on building community …by coming together to create and enjoy music.

VIDEO PICK OF THE WEEK

Avery J is not the first artist in Colorado music history to fuse blues and hip hop.  I’ll give that crown to the late John-Alex Mason, the critically acclaimed award winning blues artist who teamed up with Cody Burnside several years ago and released a rap infused blues record.  BUT – Avery is the first HIP HOP artist to infuse his music with delta Mississippi blues and gospel.  Spirit Cookin is not something you’ll get to hear on the radio – for  EXPLICIT LANGUAGE.

CP S13 EP39 2019

MONDAY Oct. 07 2019Have you ever wondered how many actual records are produced and released a year now, just in Colorado? Just in my collection there have been nearly 300 individual single, ep and lp releases since Nov 1 2018.

It’s been another crazy week for new releases too … new music from the Shamen featuring John Magnie and Steve Amadee from the Subdudes + Nick Forster (E-Town) + Jock Bartley (Firefall). It’ll be on the next episode of the show. Also new in the next episode will be new cuts from Tierro (Kan’nal) + Bridget Law (Elephant Revival), and a cut from the upcoming new album by Post Paradise.

Don’t forget to check out the Colorado Playlist Spotify featuring cuts from the 60s to Today … and the CP2019 on Spotify, where I curate the new cuts I feature each week on the show from throughout the year. There are currently over 200 tracks in that playlist alone; so if you want to review what was new this past year, go there.

And just in case you haven’t done it in a while – make sure to vote whether I should KEEP or DELETE new music this week from the playlist … votes go to what is considered some of the best of 2019.

At Bohemian Foundation, our focus is on building community …by coming together to create and enjoy music.
