MONDAY NOV 5, 2023 – Welcome to the 2024 new release year. Folks of a certain age might recall when new model year cars were introduced in the fall, while current year models were still on showroom floors. Sorta the same.

In about five weeks you’ll start seeing annual Best Of lists being published. Here in about two weeks I will put up the 14th Annual Colorado Playlist Fan and Listener Polls for 2023. The annual Best Of show will run DEC 30 thru JAN 05. I’ll post up the poll results and 2023 spins chart on JAN 01, 2024.

#COMUSIC TOP 20 OCTOBER + 2023

NOVEMBER 01, 2023Izcalli broke into the yearly TOP 20 and there were eighteen debuts (D) in October. And for the first time, I separated out the single releases (SP) not yet tied to an EP or LP.

*Strawberry Runners made their way, all the way, to (D) #3 for October. Band founder, Emi Night, moved to Denver from Indiana and started Strawberry Runners in 2013. Emi currently lives in Philadelphia. Hence the * in front of their name.

ABOUT THE CHARTS

Every Sunday I survey over a dozen community/public and college stations. The monthly survey period is from the first week ending with a Sunday, through the last week ending with a Saturday.  Yearly spins are pulled and calculated from December through the next November.

The annual new release year begins in November, although there are some released in October that make the cut. I track all titles for a full calendar year from the official date of release of the first single.

Titles are linked to its respective YouTube page. Don’t forget to visit Chris K’s Colorado Playlist Channel for the largest collection of Colorado music, going back over a decade.

Your donation will VERY HONESTLY HELP to keep this going. Please. Donate below or via Venmo at chrisk-2.

CP S17 EP39 2023

Monarch Lake Milky Way courtesy of Clear Vistas Photography

MONDAY OCTOBER 30 2023 – WOW .. OK Mr Winter! Thanks for reminding us that you’re still here (for those who like you and those who don’t). Of course, I spent my weekend huddled up with plenty of new releases to fill the show for the next several weeks. In the meantime, check out the updated Colorado 2023 on Spotify.

On the subject of new releases – last year about this time, I became acquainted with Emily Scott Robinson, whose album “American Siren” on John Prine’s (RIP) Oh-Boy Records became the Colorado Playlist Americana Album of the Year.

This year’s end of year Americana surprise comes from Jobi Riccio, who grew up in Morrison and who’s new album, “Whiplash,” is out on esteemed indie label, Yep Roc. Let me know what you think of the new single, below.

Join me for a special night as I receive a Lifetime Achievement Award.
