CP S16 EP14 2022

The Colorado Playlist – Expressly and explicitly Colorado from the 60s to Today – From the biggest hits by the biggest hitmakers and award winners in Colorado music history to some some of the freshest new music emerging from the Centennial State.

Monday APRIL 18, 2022 – April. April is a big month in my life it seems. I was conceived in April. I was discharged from the USAF in April. It was April when I landed in Roswell, New Mexico, where I lasted four months before the heat got to me and I re-landed in Northern Colorado with a blown engine; but that’s another story. In April 2006 I started the Colorado Playlist.

Thank you for listening all these years.

Not much new in the TOP 5 this week, with only JYEMO CLUB feat the Reminders moving up to #5. The rest stays the same with the Lumineers and Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats holding steady at 1 and 2.

New music in the MMMM this week from Bolonium, who say “the world is full of Bolonium,” a play on the old saying that the world is full of bologna – and if you have to ask what that is… well. I will say it’s one of the more “original” (unique / outside-of-the-box) songs I’ve played lately – let me know what you think = I like it, MEH it’s ok, or I don’t like it – below.

Byron Parker is mostly well known in Denver for his work in the noise-rock trio Accordion Crimes – check out his latest called Holy Smokes – part of a three song EP he just put out. Thanks to Kramies for turning me onto Byron’s new music.

Jessica Sonner shows up this week with a new single. She does that about once a year it seems.

Thanks to Starr’s Guitars, LiveMusicColorado.com and Spinitron for their promotional and financial support of the show. The Colorado Playlist is provided free of charge to the stations that broadcast it. It relies on donations. Please donate. It does help to defray the costs in maintaining the show.

CP S16 EP11 2022

Monday MARCH 14, 2022 – Sixty-nine Colorado current year releases (March 2021 to March 2022) got some airtime on at least fifteen (there are a handful I don’t track) Colorado community and college radio stations this past week. That’s sixty-nine out of the two hundred that are currently on my tracking sheet. So, is that good or bad?

As things go, it’s pretty good. One station, where I’m proud to call home on Saturday mornings the past six years – 105.5 The Colorado Sound – typically spins thirty to thirty-two current Colorado titles a week at least once; NOT including what I play on the Colorado Playlist on Saturday (6AM) and Sunday (6PM).

Next is 88.9 KRFC Fort Collins, where djs there picked twenty-three titles to share this past week. Indie 102.3 typically features up to a dozen Colorado artists each month. About twenty or so current year Colorado titles were aired this past week at other stations around the state – including this week’s featured station, KSJD.

The Colorado Playlist relies on donations. Please donate at the bottom of the page.

FEATURED STATION OF THE WEEK

KSJD is a community/public radio station based in Cortez, Colorado that serves the Four Corners region of Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico and Utah, including the Ute Mountain Ute Tribe and portions of the Navajo Nation.  The CP is aired Saturdays at 2PM

The Colorado Sound TV – BEST VIDEOS 2013

chris k july 2010Unlike last year, when I included my VIDEO PICKS OF THE YEAR in my end of year post, this year I’m posting them early and asking for you to participate.  These are my picks (nominations if you will) for best videos of 2013.  There are 14 videos in the playlist.  Run time = 53 minutes – so shorter than a one hour episode of the Colorado Sound, and I know you’ve had time for that on occasion  😉

I’ve left room after the videos to pick your three favorites.  I had a blast going back to all the monthly video playlists and watching them all again … I hope you discover someone new who’s music you love.  Thank you for supporting.

Only those videos published on YouTube between Nov 1 2012 and Oct 31 2013 were considered for these picks.

EDIT:  SAT DEC 21, 2013 — POLLS CLOSED.  Videos reset in order of voting.
