Monday morning … NEW MUSIC POLL this week featuring American Culture, Strawberry Runners, The Blue Rider, Esme Patterson, and the Patient Zeroes. I have to say it all sounds rather oddly like the sixties to my ears. It will be interesting to see what your favorites are from this class of retro-pop and rock …
Sorry to say that Radio 94.9 in Northern Colorado has decided to drop the show. I seriously want to thank long time NoCO radio guru Stu Haskell for inviting me to be a part of things there the past few years. With me now being on staff at 105.5 The Colorado Sound, and the Colorado Playlist airing on Sunday mornings at 10AM, it did not make sense for 94.9 to continue airing the show.
Support for Chris K’s Colorado Playlist comes courtesy of The Historic Mishawaka Amphitheatre — Celebrating 100 yrs of music and dancing in the Poudre Canyon.
Presenting: The 10th Anniversary Party of the Colorado Playlist on Sunday June 5th … Details TBA, but I can say that my band GOATZ! will be making its second appearance at the Mish (though without my bff and lead guitarist Chris Jackowski who is on vaca that wkend and cannot make the show).

It’s the time of year for family, friends, and parties. Not too much has gone on this week. If you haven’t done so already, make sure you vote for your favorites in the FAN POLL. I’m looking forward to sharing the best of the best from this year in our annual BEST OF show coming up in a couple of weeks. The POLL ends Dec 20.
One bit of news broke over the weekend. Veteran Irish Rock band the Indulgers lead singer/band leader Damien McCarron posted an end to their successful 17 year run.
THE COLORADO SOUND LIVE365
Besides the radio show, you can also stream the best of my collection anytime at The Colorado Sound Live365. We’re coming up on the third year that I’ve kept that sidebar going. The past few months have been sketchy to be honest. While the radio show enjoys the love of numerous stations statewide, the metrics on the online side have been slow to develop. A cry for listeners last week rose metrics to the best we’ve had in a few months – and reminded me that it takes constant promotion to make it real.
In order to help cover the costs of running the online station I went to ad supported for non subscribers, and ad-free for subscribers. Gotta thank one new subscriber this weekend.
I also learned that the order of songs is different depending on whether you’re a “free” listener (ad supported) or a subscription / VIP listener (non-ad).
Here’s an example from Monday (today) morning.
Ad supported three song set at 8:06AM
The Fray – Love Don’t Die
Elephant Revival – Birds And Stars
Leftover Salmon – Western Sky
VIP set at 8:07AM
Big Head Todd & The Monsters – Josephina
Yonder Mountain String Band – Criminal
Longest Day of the Year – Black Horse Canyon
These are the top ten songs you heard last week, through Saturday.
Edison – Be Someone Fox St. – Somethin About You John Oates – Stone Cold Love Megan Burtt – Fast As I Go The Motet – 123 Musketeer Gripweed – End of the Day Nathaniel Rateliff – Nothing to Show For OneRepublic – Counting Stars P-Nuckle – The System The String Cheese Incident – Outside and Inside

I haven’t quite figured out yet how to deal with the isolated batch of singles that came out in the past year .. and I still have the songs of the year to sort through… hopefully in a couple of days so stay tuned for that.
To those who have messaged me over the past few weeks, or who have contributed to the GoFundMe campaign set up by our friend Megan, THANK YOU! I cannot express how much your friendship means to me and Mrs Goat right now.
My wife has an annual thing she does. She and our grand daughter wrote this song several years ago. My wife posts it every Sunday on her FB pg. I thought I’d share it here this week … hoping your family is safe and healthy this holiday season.
VIDEO PICK OF THE WEEK:
I got introduced to Chemistry Club a couple of years ago when they released songs like “Miranda” and “Navigator.” A SpokesBuzz band, they’ll have a new single out on SpokesBuzz VOL VI, being released DEC 11 at Hodi’s Halfnote in Fort Collins.
MMMM (Monday Morning Music Meeting)
Somerset Catalog – Lonely Fang (Misra)
Genre/style: indie, rock/pop
Mixes well with Colorado bands: Instant Empire, Achille Lauro, Everything Absent or Distorted (A Love Story), Born In the Flood
Easily one of the best new albums of the new year, and one of the best indie rock/pop albums that’s crossed my desk in the past couple of years. I expect we’ll hear and see more of this outfit in 2016.
