Monday, March 27, 2023 – I almost never lead off with a new video before it airs on the show. In fact, I can’t recall the last time I did.

I got back to the office last Wednesday from a week in Death Valley and Las Vegas to find a submission from the industrial-psych duo, the Drood, made up of Nathan Jamiel and Daniel Watts. Every once in a while something just pops up and demands that I engage. This is one of those times. I’ll let the video speak for itself. Thumbs up for one of the best (so far) for 2023. Monday March 20, 2023. Yep. Claire and I are on vacation in Death Valley. No spins chart this week, but I did get the MMMM done before we left.

We’re only in March and two songs are now in my short list for best song of the year. This week’s entry is from Rebecca Folsom. “Mercy” is an autobiographical tale of her and her sister. Homeless as children, and left behind, Rebecca eventually made it out, her sister didn’t. She would live her life and die in Boulder shelters. It’s a heart wrenchingly emotional performance on what in my opinion is the best song of Rebecca’s career as a songwriter.

Bridget Law has been splitting time between Tierro and Elephant Revival. Expect a new ER album soon.

MONDAY MARCH 13, 2023. Claire and I are off to Death Valley this week. Looking forward to some desert warmth and spring flowers. So, if there’s no post next Monday, you know why.

The word is out that I’m “retiring.” Not entirely. I’m leaving Northern Colorado radio & music after a forty-five year run and moving to Grand Junction. I will continue to produce the Colorado Playlist. And who knows what else I can do in “retirement.”
