MONDAY APRIL 03 2023 – As I sat down to put this week’s post together, I got word that the new Leftover Salmon album will drop in May. There’s already a single out that I’ll get to in next week’s show. That’s on top of Leftover Salmon cofounder, “uncle” Vince Herman‘s, debut solo effort that moved up two spots to #6 in the running 2023 TOP 20.

If you’re hoping for a new Big Head Todd & the Monsters release before their Colorado Music Hall of Fame induction, dream on. Band keyboardist, Jeremy Lawton, informed me that “…we are doing a “maybe” on July. Doing a big 7-8 week thing with Blues Traveler so we are going to try to have something for that.” So, July…

You may also notice an asterisk (*) in front of *The Wood Brothers. As I mentioned in the MARCH / 2023 TOP 20 spins report this weekend, *The Wood Brothers are not, specifically speaking, a locally based band. The asterisk (*) denotes Colorado expat musicians who were born and/or raised here, or got started here (or for some other compelling reason) and are still considered part of #COMUSIC.

Monday, March 27, 2023 – I almost never lead off with a new video before it airs on the show. In fact, I can’t recall the last time I did.

I got back to the office last Wednesday from a week in Death Valley and Las Vegas to find a submission from the industrial-psych duo, the Drood, made up of Nathan Jamiel and Daniel Watts. Every once in a while something just pops up and demands that I engage. This is one of those times. I’ll let the video speak for itself. Thumbs up for one of the best (so far) for 2023. Let me know what you think.

Monday Feb 13, 2023 – Happy (early) Valentine’s Day. Sadly, we lost two more members of the Colorado music scene this past week, when it was reported that longtime Denver music veteran, Jimmy Ayers, passed away after a long and drawn out battle with cancer. Blues guitarist Jeremy Vasquez also passed away.

Jeremy was a long time SoCO musician who lived in Texas for the past few years, but was really admired among CO blues guitarists. As posted by long time scene drummer Kyle Borthick, “Jimmy Ayers was a pillar of the community. A true gentleman and a righteous guy all the way around.” RIP fellas.
