CP S12 EP21 2018

Weeks like this don’t come around too often.  It’s with a tremendous amount of gratitude that I announce the addition of  the Music Programs at Bohemian Foundation as the new sponsor of the Colorado Playlist – including the Music District, the Historic Armory, and Washington’s Fort Collins.

At Bohemian Foundation, our focus is on building community. An effective way to build community connections is by coming together to create and enjoy music.

Coming June 17 for a special Father’s Day show = Sierra Hull, a Nashville star on the rise, with Yonder Mountain String Band mandolinist Jacob Jolliffe and his band.  Tix etc at www.armoryfoco.com

I’m pretty honored this week to present a Colorado Playlist premiere.  In case you missed the show on the radio airwaves around the state, I presented the premiere of a new Katey Laurel track, Daydream, off her upcoming new EP of the same name dropping on June 26.

Katey has been among my favorite adult contemporary artists in the scene for many years.  Throughout her career she’s exemplified what it means to be a professional – approaching both her song-craft and business with the highest standards, and along the way earning considerable praise and accolades in not only our scene but nationally as well.  Check out her bio.

I was absolutely blown away this weekend when I opened my email and got the message that Head for the Hills was moving forward with a new sound, and a new lineup.  The newest member, Sam (mandolin) is leaving the band and original founding members, Adam, Joe and Matt have decided on keeping it going after 15 years – and embracing sounds far outside their core bluegrass sound it seems, at least based on the video below recorded live at their annual Pickin On the Poudre show at the Mishawaka.

CP S12 EP20 2018

It was a long weekend.  Saturday I was the stage manager for one of the stages at the Denver Day of Rock. After a blistering mid-afternoon set I got to hang with Brent Cowles and his band that included Joe Richmond (drums), Nate Meese (bass), and Trent Nelson (guitar) and chat about what’s up … turns out they’re heading out on the road with Nathaniel Rateliff and the Nightsweats for a seven day east coast run – with a new album dropping next week.  ***BE LISTENING to next week’s show for another fresh track from the upcoming album***

Monday I exercised my position as entertainment coordinator for the 40th Bolder Boulder – that included several of our area’s best local bands – including MLIMA, Monocle Band, Crowboy, South to Cedars, VooDoo Kings, CC & the Riders, Eef, Jill Brzezcki, Tim Ostdiek, Antonio Lopez, and Slopeside among others.

The VIDEO PICK OF THE WEEK by Grayson Erhard is nestled down below in the MMMM.

CP S12 EP19 2018

One of the most popular hits in classic rock history, Dream On by Aerosmith, came out three years before some disc jockey decided to play it on the radio – and the rest, as they say, is history.

I’m not saying the same thing is happening this week, but I want to draw your attention to two (D) tracks in this week’s show that came out a year ago and to this point never made it to the show – one from the Motet, and one from a “new” band out of Colorado Springs – Audible.  Let me know what you think of them in this week’s MMMM.

Another (D) track this week is from Andreas Devalera who I shared a stage with several months ago – and whose new release is the work, not of an 18 year old HS grad, but of someone many years older with greater life experiences and time spent on his multiple instruments.

Already proficient on 10 instruments, Andreas is one of those kids voted on as most likely to succeed – and evidenced by such a stunning debut, I’m inclined to agree.  Sorry I don’t have an embed for the song I played.  His cd release show was last night in Denver – so it may take a little while longer before the album is uploaded to your favorite new music streaming site.
