Monday NOV 01, 2021 – Sad news broke over the weekend, when Madison House announced veteran booking agent, manager and founding partner Jesse Aratow died on October 29th. A cause of death for Aratow was not disclosed but Madison House said that his passing was unexpected. Some unofficial reports suggest Jesse may have died following a workout at a gym.

Due to unfortunate technical issues related to changing out software, 105.5 The Colorado Sound was unable to air this week’s episode of the show.

Time to hunker down. November is the traditional start of the new-release year, so, 2022. It’s also the month when many of us in the media start to flesh out our annual “Best Of” lists. This year’s “Best of the Colorado Playlist” will air Jan 01-06 2022. In the meantime keep an eye out here for the annual Listener Poll. For a refresher, visit CP2021 on Spotify.

CP S15:EP43 2021

Monday Oct 25, 2021 – Another weekend gone and another trip out of town to visit another of Colorado’s wonderful independently programmed community radio stations. This week we visited Janet and Jimi at KOYC LPFM in Pueblo. They’re fairly new so they don’t stream yet, but they do support music from Pueblo and around the region. If you’re in the area, tune in 98.5FM.

There was only ONE change in this week’s Colorado TOP 5 — A.J. Fullerton jumped back in, with Little Trips slipping back one spot. That was it .. Nathaniel Rateliff & the Nightsweats, The Lumineers and The Velveteers remain in the top three.

MMMM NOTE = The YouTube video file for Trash Cat The Only Person That I Like will be live on TUESDAY OCT 26 .. make sure to come back and check it out.

CP S15:EP42 2021

Monday Oct 18, 2021 – The first task when I get up and pour coffee on Monday morning is to sit down and write out the Monday morning blog post. Typically, I scan headlines and my FB newsfeed.

Today’s feed was a sad reminder that a) COVID is still killing people, even those who have been vaccinated, and b) that despite COVID, “…we think this lasts forever … it doesn’t; forgive, love and be good to one another.”

That quote was the last line in a post by Colorado Music Hall of Fame musician and educator Chris Daniels, informing us that veteran Kings bassist Kevin “Bro” Lege is in the ICU at St. Anthony’s, “…getting amazing care …but the outlook is not great.”

Chris didn’t indicate the reason for “Bro’s” condition, but we do know that former Secretary of State Colin Powell passed away last night from complications related to COVID.

As Chris Daniels reminds us, “…we think this lasts forever …it doesn’t; forgive, love and be good to one another.”
