Monday Feb 13, 2023 – Happy (early) Valentine’s Day. Sadly, we lost two more members of the Colorado music scene this past week, when it was reported that longtime Denver music veteran, Jimmy Ayers, passed away after a long and drawn out battle with cancer. Blues guitarist Jeremy Vasquez also passed away.

Jeremy was a long time SoCO musician who lived in Texas for the past few years, but was really admired among CO blues guitarists. As posted by long time scene drummer Kyle Borthick, “Jimmy Ayers was a pillar of the community. A true gentleman and a righteous guy all the way around.” RIP fellas.

CP S17 EP06 2023

February 6, 2023 – I was hoping for either Yonder Mountain String Band or the Infamous Stringdusters to bring a Grammy home to Colorado, but no such luck this year.

Every once in a while it happens. I get sent a record WEEKS before it goes live on your favorite streaming source. In this week’s show there were pre-release debuts from Angie Stevens & the Beautiful Wreck and one from the solo debut from Trent Nelson (Strange Americans).

As I sat here yesterday tabulating this week’s spins I was very pleasantly surprised to see the new album Four from Colorado Music Hall of Fame guitarist Bill Frisell debut at #3.
