If you haven’t guessed by now, Claire and I love to jump in the car and take off on grand adventures throughout the western United States, and particularly Colorado. Well, we’re off for another week of Rocky Mountain dark skies and (fingers crossed) some incredible fishing (for me) as we head up to Granby area. Pictures soon I’m sure.

This show has been my passion for 20 years. Over the years it has been mostly self-funded, with some financial help from Starr’s Guitars and a few others here and there. It was enough to cover the cost of operations, but nothing more. Since retiring from full time work, the cost of the show has had a significant impact on my income.

The Colorado Playlist is the only program showcasing Colorado music statewide, broadcast by 12 stations covering 30 FM/LPFM frequencies. I make this show available at NO COST to community radio stations in our state. I’d like to keep it going for another couple of years.

The Monday Morning Music Meeting happens courtesy of Starr’s Guitars in Cedaredge, serving the western slope music community since 1998.

Every year I debut approximately two hundred new current-year releases. Every week I have to make decisions about what to keep to play again and what to archive. This is where you come in.

Every week, besides the blog post I also work on COLORADO 2026 .. 100 songs from 100 Colorado artists and bands (including those formed here, but since moved to another city). The playlist is capped at 100, so for every new add, I drop one. There’s one on Spotify and one on YouTube . Not everything on COLORADO 2026 finds its way to the show, so there’s lots of new stuff to discover.

It’s springtime in the Rockies and with that comes new releases and outdoor music. Check out the HOT releases at member supported radio around the state.

Jazz is an important and integral part of the Colorado music scene. Denver’s KUVO, known as the Oasis in the City, has been one of the nation’s leading jazz stations for decades. I’m happy to announce that their spins have now been added to the #COMUSIC TOP 30 and the weekly HOT SPINS report.

I WISH I WAS KIDDING. Your SUPPORT is ESSENTIAL.

This show has been my passion for 20 years. I am retired now. I survive on social security, some pennies and dimes playing out (right?!), and limited savings (that won’t last to the end).

There are monthly costs associated with the show that honestly stretch my insanely limited retirement income, and the loss of my steadiest supporter over the past decade.

HOW THE CHART IS PUT TOGETHER

Every week I survey fifteen Colorado community/public and college stations, plus Colorado Playlist spins on respective stations. The weekly survey period runs from midnight Sunday through the next Saturday. 

The monthly survey period starts from the first week, ending with a Saturday. It continues through the last week, which also ends on a Saturday.  Titles are linked to its respective YouTube page.

Titles are tracked from the date of release of the first single from an LP/EP, for twelve months. Example: DOR = DEC 2023. I stopped tracking it in NOV 2024 (twelve months).

KAFM, KBUT, KCSU, KDNK, KDUR, KFFR, KLZR, KOTO, KSJD, KSUT, KRFC, KRZA, KUVO, KVCU, and KVNF are surveyed via Spinitron, offering search functions for artists to track airplay on over three hundred stations and programs around the country.

LP = album (5 or more songs)
EP = extended play (3-5 songs)
SP = single play (1-2 songs)
