KSJD Cortez CO

August 15, 2023 – ON THE ROAD AGAIN! Visiting Cortez/Mesa Verde. In my travels and life, people often tell me they don’t listen to radio because there are too many commercials and playlists are too limited. Unfortunately, these very people don’t turn to the plethora of non-profit non-commercial radio stations in our state.

The Colorado Playlist is fortunate to be aired throughout the state on a network of non commercial community based public radio stations. For the time being, it is not being aired on KSDJ Cortez – while they look for a new time slot to air it. IN the meantime, check the stations and times page for where and when you can hear it.

Dragondeer debuts in the TOP 5 and Daniel Rodriguez re-enters the TOP 5 below.

MONDAY JULY 24, 2023 – We’re home. What a trip! NW Colorado is as unique and beautiful a place as there is in our state – and most of the rest of the region tbh. Claire had one night, our first after driving nearly five hours, to shoot clear vistas and stars. Rain and/or clouds obscured the night skies the rest of the week. Oh well – next road trip is mid-August to Mesa Verde for the Persied Meteor Shower.

Speaking of Mesa Verde, KSJD, serving the Mancos/Cortez and four corners section of the state, will NOT be airing the Colorado Playlist for the foreseeable future. Please continue to support this locally programmed community station as I wait for a new slot for the show to open up.

I need your feedback. Despite the really nice number of you who visit weekly, the MMMM has been receiving fewer votes. REMINDER – the MMMM was designed to gauge what you think is the BEST of the Colorado Playlist new music every week. A highly favorable “like” sticks around for future plays. A highly disfavorable vote means the song is more likely to disappear from my library.

Share the love – share #coloradomusic.

I NEED YOUR HELP! – It’s getting increasingly more expensive to maintain this show on a weekly basis. As much as I’d like to, I can’t keep spending my savings to produce the show. Please consider supporting. Venmo chrisk-2 or use the donation form below.

#COMUSIC TOP 20 APRIL+ 2023

MAY 01, 2023 – WOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOW! You blew the roof off this sucker! You set an ALL TIME thirteen year high for views and visits for APRIL, by a HUGE margin. Thank you. Much love.

Every Sunday I survey over a dozen community/public and college stations, which includes spins on the Colorado playlist.

The monthly survey period is from the first week ending with a Sunday, through the last week ending with a Sunday.  Yearly spins are pulled and calculated from December through the next November.

The annual new release year begins in November, although there are some released in October that make the cut. I track all titles for a full calendar year from the official date of release.

Titles are linked to its respective YouTube page.

Spin data pulled from the Colorado Playlist105.5 The Colorado SoundIndie 102.388.9 KRFC  and ten other stations that use playlist generator Spinitron, offering search functions for artists and agents to track airplay.

You can almost always expect a nationally known band to place high up on the charts.

*The Wood Brothers are not, specifically speaking, a locally based band. The Boulder raised Chris and Oliver Wood, aka *The Wood Brothers, are in the #COMUSIC conversation in much the same way as *Shovels and Rope, one-half of which is Denver raised Michael Trent. Chris, Oliver and Michael all grew up here, but moved after high school to pursue music full time elsewhere. Hence the * in front of their names.

I also include Colorado expats living elsewhere in my tracking, as long as they were born and/or raised here, or got their career started here or there is some other reason to include them. So the new *The Wood Brothers get counted in my tracking along with Leftover Salmon cofounder and Colorado Music Hall of Fame inductee, *Vince Herman, who now lives in Nashville. His solo debut, Enjoy the Ride, gets counted as part of #COMUSIC.
