Monday DEC 07, 2020 – As I sat down this morning to polish up this week’s post, news hit my social media feed that Denver’s most famous jazz club, El Chapultepec, has closed or is closing. Either way, it’s one of the most significant tragedies in this year of COVD that we just lost a place that has been open since the day after Prohibition ended in 1933.

Stay Home Silent Disco 2 presented by Tyler, the Creative has been reschedule for JANUARY 08 2021.  It’s a  way to have fun during isolation while raising money to support Colorado COVID-relief for the arts. I’m thrilled to be supporting the event in their efforts to raise money for three non-profits, including Rocky Mountain Music Relief — $1 for every view that the three streams get! COLORADO TOP 30 NOVEMBER 2020

December 1, 2020 -EDIT DEC 02 2020 … Before I posted up yesterday, I forgot to link the releases to their respective YOUTUBE location.  That’s now done.  Enjoy.

By now it should come as no surprise the incredible success of Nathaniel Rateliff‘s solo LP And It’s Still Alright.  Not only did it bounce back to #1 this month, but I’m 100% positive it will be #1 for 2020.

New Artist to Watch For, Dafna, a student at CU Boulder, DEBUTS at #2 thanks mostly to it being the most played Colorado release at Indie 102.3 this past month. Colorado supergroup Del Shamen, featuring members of the Subdudes, Hot Rize/E-Town and Firefall debuts at #4 with their self-titled debut.  Debuting at #8, Ron Miles Rainbow Sign is the first JAZZ album to land at #1 in a WEEKLY TOP 5 (wk end 11/28)

There are over 20 FM and LPFM (low power FM) non-commercial public/community and college stations in Colorado.  I’m able to track spins at 14 of those stations that have some kind of searchable online database or use Spinitron.

I tracked 200 releases (LP, EP or Single) for the month of October.  A few were advance singles that I got to share on CP network, or that stations got to share in advance of release dates in July.

Cary Morin and Gasoline Lollipops remain the top 2 album titles for the second month – swapping places at 1 &  2.  All the (D) we see listed come courtesy of Indie 102.3, which stands alone in the number of spins they give their monthly featured artists.  No other station in Colorado even comes close in the number of spins they give #COMusic – though other stations air more unique titles overall.
